Sounds as though the new expansion will drop for Magic Duels before the end of September:
Preview here but no guarantees if all these paper cards will be in the Duels games.
I am curious how it will work. Will we be able to buy Origins boosters in perpetuity if we wanted, for example, once Battle for Zendikar comes out or will BfZ be the only booster which will be replaced by the next set and so on.
The game is essentially promotion for the cards so it would make sense to only sell the newest set (or at least Block) but keeping the old sets available would cost them almost nothing so I could see it go either way.
I assume they’ll keep the Origins boosters. They seem to be trying to make M: D more or less emulate M:tG so they’ll keep the current legal expansions available to purchase. I don’t know this for sure, but that’s my guess. Plus it gives incentive to buy coins to catch up if now you’re chasing two card sets.
I’m more curious about what they’ll do when Origins is rotated out of legal standard constructed play but that’s not for a long while so I guess they have time to figure it out.
