This past weekend, I was playing a game of Magic: the Gathering. One of the creatures that I had on my side was an Uktabi Orangutan. At one point, I tapped the Uktabi, and said, jokingly, “I’ll attack with the Brit”. My opponent looked at me questioningly, and I realized that I had no idea why I connected this creature with the British.
A few parameters to the search:
A) I do not think that I meant to insult British people.
B) The word “Brit” is probably interchangeable with “Englishman”.
C) The answer has nothing to do with the history of MtG, nor with the storyline of the game - I’m a casual player at best, and probably noticed something about the text on the card itself, most likely the name.
D) The answer probably does not involve any facts about orangutans that would have to be researched in an encyclopedia - I made this comment off the cuff, and do not recall reading anything in depth about the species, recently.
I think that there’s some middle step that my mind used as a connection between the creature and “the Brit”, but I have no clue what it is. It’s a long shot, but I figure that it wouldn’t hurt to post the problem anyway. Thanks.
Do you read Terry Pratchett? His Discworld books have an orangutang as the Unseen University librarian. To me, these books have a distinctly British flavor.
This is because they are written by an Englishman. The Librarian was also my first thought on this.

Because the card’s name started with UK=United Kingdom=Britain?
