My lock on my mailbox at college got stuck, so I can’t get my mail. I then ask the person behind the desk at the Student Activity Center what I should do. (our mailboxes are connected to SAC) The girl behind the counter says that she can get my mail today, and I should go to reslife to get a lock change.
So, I go to reslife, and ask for a lock change. The girl behind the desk says sure, they’ll change my lock, and mail me my new combo…and I should get the people at SAC to get my mail, to get my new combo.
So I wait a few days, and go back to SAC, and explain that I requested a lock change, and was told by the person at reslife that I should ask them to get my mail, and there should be a slip of paper with my combination. I was apparently the first person to ever do this, because they had no idea what I was talking about. They weren’t previously aware that my combination would be in my mailbow. They tell me to go to reslife, but I get them to get my mail though, but there was no such slip there. They suggest I go to reslife again and ask them when it opens tomorrow.
I go to reslife later, and explain that I had requested a lock change, but there was no slip. The older woman working the reslife desk got in the big book of locker combos and found mine. It was the same as it was before. Apparently, I wasn’t mailed a new combo because I didn’t have a new lock. I confirm with the lady that I should get the new combo from SAC.
Later I go back to my mailbox, and found that it had a new lock. so I go into SAC and once again explain that I had requested a lock change, and that my combo would be written on a slip and mailed to me. I get even more resistance, and the girl behind the counter claimed they weren’t supposed to get people’s mail, and tried to find some kind of form for me to to sign out on. (On one of the previous times they got my mail, they didn’t even ask for ID). Eventually she relented, and what do you know? there was a slip, with my combination in there. And the combination even works!
It worked out fine with me, but you’d think that either SAC would tell reslife to stop sending them people, or reslife would explain how they wanted lock changes to work to SAC.
I’m going out tonight, so I may not check replies until tomorrow, but I can’t imagine this will be controversial enough to demand rapid replies on my part
