Man sacrifices himself to stop suicide bomber

A very brave man indeed.

So would that make him an anti-suicide bomber bomber?

Isn’t the politically correct term, homicide bomber?

The subject of the story is not a bomber, that doesn’t even make sense. Is a poor attempt at a joke really the best you can manage as a response to this story about such a brave man?

I honestly don’t know if I would dive, dive while yelling a warning. or tackle. He made a self-sacraficial choice and I applaud him for his actions, I can only hope I would do the same.

In case there is any confusion, the actual event occurred in July of last year.

One could also look at the other side of the coin and say that the suicide bomber was making a ‘noble’ self sacrifice according to his ideals.

Obviously I applaud the man who stopped him but it’s not a one way street IMNSHO. One man’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter. People on both sides of a war equally make sacrifices for their ideology.

I disagree strongly with three of your words. “equally make sacrifices” as it seems you are saying that suicide bombing to cause terror by killing people who have nothing to do with ‘your’ war, children etc., is an honorable position as there is no absolute right & wrong in your world??

I do not think it in anyway is OK in today’s world & can not be put in the same category as soldiers in uniforms shooting at each other on a battlefield that is not mostly filled with humans that have no part or interest in that ‘war.’

If you think it is not okay, the post needs some clarification IMO. If you think it is equal, I will not intrude any further.

If you need a debate on which is more noble, you ought to take this to great debates, and get enlightened.

Get with the program, that attempt at reverse-PC language failed a decade ago.

Why’s it reverse-PC?

Anyone who uses a bomb in an attempt kill another person is a homicide bomber.
Doesn’t matter if the bomber dies or not, he is committing homicide, with a bomb.

OK so it was more like rightwing-PC, coming from Fox out of some twisted notion that “suicide bomber” was somehow honoring the bastards. And since as pointed out EVERY bomber is a homicide bomber, it failed as we still needed a way to differentiate.

Honestly I personally think suicide bombing in almost all circumstances is a very despicable act. Not only does it not target those ‘responsible’ but it fails to achieve any meaningful objectives in the short/long term.

Thing like suicide hijackings however I can see a point. A large part of the last decade has been influenced by the actions of Islamic extremists on September 11th who took part in what some can say is one of the most extreme acts of self-sacrifice by 19 men.

Thank you for sharing that story. I am not that brave.

Well, news reports always seem to refer to a guy who shoots up someplace as a “gunman”, as if he was some weird hybrid thng, so maybe we could refer to a guy wearing a bomb as a “bombman”.

Or not.

I think Jackie speaks for us all.
