A man took a Poloroid photo every day for 18 years until he died in 1997. It’s a bit of a tear-jerker, but really neat too.
I remember reading this about a year and a half ago.
What a neat guy.
Whoa, this is amazing.
Thanks for the link. I hadn’t heard about this, and it really is quite interesting!
God’s shakin’ him now.
I went and looked at the picture taken the day I was born, and it wasn’t very exciting. It was of some guy buying macaroni at the grocery store. It looks like the day before, though, he was at a bar. Maybe they were buying hangover food.
I don’t know why I find this so interesting. I’m not a voyeur, I don’t read strangers’ blogs, I don’t have much interest in what happens in the personal lives of people I’ve never met, but I seem to be taken by this.
Bah.
What I want to see is him taking the same picture of himself every day. When he dies, you take the series of photos, run the in sequence, and watch a time-lapse movie of him aging. It would be even better if you started when he was a little kid…
I think someone, or a family, did something this, as I recall reading about and seeing the photos. I forget how many years it spanned, but I’m pretty sure it was more than 10, if not much more.
It would make for a neat Flash animation or Gif, but I think this is cool too. Dude captured his everyday life - some days he bought macaroni, other days he was jamming, still other days, he was in a Residents costume. It’s at least as thought-provoking as a daily picture of his face. More so, I think.
When I clicked on the link, I kinda thought it would be what you described above, but I like this too.
That is awesome! I would like to do something like that. I turn 50 this year so its kind of a milestone. Unfortunately, I mentioned it to my g/f and her first reaction was “why?”. <sigh>
I like this a lot. It really gives you a feeling of what life was like through his eyes. It’s a shame that he died so young. Looks like he would have had a lot more interesting sights to share with the world if he had lived.
For some reason I immediately wanted to see the last week or so. The final photo is especially creepy, since he seems to actually be dead in it.
The picture of him in the hospital bed with a friend playing a guitar just freakin kicked me in the stomach.
If he wasn’t dead then, he must have been close. Everyone in the pic appears to be mourning. ![]()
My b-day is pretty cool, if I do say so myself. Thanks for the idea!
He died on my son’s first birthday…
