Man the kids on Teen Jeopardy are morans (spoilers for February 7 show)

This one is on YouTube as well.

  kid from Little Rock won today. Gutsy move wagering 18k on the last question. He’s been mentioned on the local news a couple times.

My friend sent me this link earlier. It has a pretty funny synopsis of this kids win. Also, it has a video clip of highlights showing how he came back.

That kid has some serious cajones, both for the Daily Double and the cheek in the final answer. And some serious brains. And apparently wished to pay a stylistic homage to Dwayne from What’s Happening?.

I like that he knew that DD was his last chance and to even have a shot at winning he’d need to go all in. There are many adults who screw up the betting in situations like that.

That said, he got *very *lucky on the FJ. Barrett couldn’t catch him, but had Nilai gotten it right, Nilai would have won. However if he had bet the standard amount to pass Nilai by $1, he would have lost. His answer made me think he mistakenly thought he had more than 2x Nilai’s score.

Actually, that sentence makes perfect sense in Russian … believe it or not! :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t know that bit…

bold move, but he really didn’t have any other choice except to make a huge wager on that daily double if he wanted to win first prize

he was down by liek 14000 from the first guy in the first day of the finale

Well, now you do. Ignorance fought!

He mentioned at some point that Jimi Hendrix is an influence. Maybe that was his attempt at a Hendrix do? I loved that kid man. His smart ass FJ answer reminded me of that guy who used his phone a friend lifeline to call his dad to say, “I don’t need help dad, I’m just calling to tell you I’m about to win a million dollars.”

I know the (generally) Catholic/Protestant divide is well known but is the existence of the peace walls? I suppose I should start an IMHO thread to find out how widely known that fact is.

Reading comprehension is not your forte, is it? I said they can read about it before they go on.

These are kids who are smart enough to be on Jeopardy. They can handle the basic concept of remembering something they read.

I didn’t know specifically about the Peace Walls either. Didn’t need to. Belfast was the answer that leapt out at me from the category and the “Protestant/Catholic” reference.
