I’ve been watching this cheaply-made, commercial ridden series for a few episodes, and it is OK, excepet for the long commercial breaks (sometimes up to 6 in a row). The weird thing-they guy makes a big show out of eating bugs ans distatsteful wild fruits. What is that all about? I mean, how much protein does a little spider pack? Plus, he says that every bit counts-but you can’t digest many insects, as they are covered with chiton (an indigestible substance). This week, he ws dumped in Northern Australia-truly frightening terrain (125 F in the daytime). But of course, he mananges to find a way out of the place. It looks like this show is just filler-will it last?
Waste of time. Survivorman is the better man’s equivalent.
I only watched it once, but was unimpressed with his “horse catching” skills in which he approached an obviously broke horse in a mountain meadow and proceeded to get on him. Kinda hard to be a horse whisperer when the horse in question is a gentle gelding LOL>
I think it’s in its second season, so it’s been around for awhile. A few months ago some of the people involved in the show admitted that some of the situations, such as the previously mentioned horse catching scene, were set up in advance, and that Bear somtimes filmed a shot of himself getting ready to sleep out in the elements, then went to a hotel for the night.
It can be entertaining, although it gets old after a few episodes.
This video is priceless. I still enjoy watching the show, but he’s mostly looking for good shots, not actual surviving techniques.
Agreed. Here is the thread from a few months ago where we discussed the staged nature of some of Bear’s shoots.
Hmmm. My money’s on Wilderness.
