Manhattan Prosecutors file criminal charges for Trump re Stormy Daniels case - ongoing discussion here (Guilty on all 34 counts, May 30, 2024)

Lunch ends at 2:15 which is the deadline for those posts to be removed.

So, how long will it before before Trump violates the gag order again and dares the judge to jail him? I think since he has announced that he is going to campaign during the trial break that he will do it just before then, so he can cry about the crooked judge not letting him campaign. If he does, I think the judge should delay his time in a cell until he returns back to the trial.

New thread from new SDMB poster:

“Locked out of my Truth Social account. How can I get back in?? [Need answer fast!]”

Even considering that it was a joke, does offering to exchange silence for an ambassadorship do anything to further the claim that this was all done in order to help him get elected.

It certainly puts the thought in the jury’s mind that some people at least were very aware early on that this was a politically motivated deal. That the purpose of the deal was to prevent the news coming out so as to prevent the collapse of Trump’s candidacy. This was clearly apparent to Davidson at the time.

It’s almost as if Trump doesn’t always tell the truth!

the posts that the judge told him to take down are being taken down. someone is following the ruling.

I think he’ll sit tight for a bit. The good thing (from his perspective) about the fines is that he knows exactly where the judge considers the lines to be, and his bluster about being honored to go to jail for contempt is how you know that the thought terrifies him.

I wouldn’t bet on him making it through the entire trial, though.

Doesn’t do him any good that he’s Guilty As Fuck.

Haven’t you heard enough of his lies?

I’m betting he deliberately violates the order sometime on Friday afternoon, because he’s betting that the judge won’t dare let him cool his heels in jail all weekend.

I’d also bet that he’s wrong about that.

“Mistrial! You allowed testimony to be heard while I was sleeping!”

The posts determined to be in violation of the gag order have reportedly been removed, as per the judge’s instructions. So, at least for now, it looks like he’s abiding by the decision. It is to be determined how long that lasts.

I think he’ll wait until next week, and then try something deniable, like having his election team but not directly Trump post something. I also tend to assume that the judge will give Trump one more set of fines with another statement saying “Three strikes and you’re out” before going to jail time. But that third strike, yes, I think he means it.

I’m disappointed in myself that my first thought was “Aw, man!”

That’s not how it seems to work. So far it’s been:

Trump posts
Prosecution makes a motion (or whatever it’s called) to the Court
Defense responds
Judge sets a date for the hearing in the future and reviews the above
Judge rules

He has the wrong message, though. When he says “We are all hoping that you take the stand in your defense”, he should really be saying, “You’re too chicken to take the stand in your own defense”.

A handler on his team has removed the posts I would guess.

My guess as well, even assuming that he’d know how to take them down.

Do we have any evidence that he even knows they were taken down? That’s exactly the sort of thing I’d hide from him, if I were his employee, and also trying to avoid him blowing up.

Good point. If he did notice, I wouldn’t admit to being the one who did it. Of course, given Trump’s “management” style of setting everyone against each other in a death-struggle to survive, someone else would probably out me.
