I know you are being sarcastic but I’m pissed off at the whole situation. The only person who said he was going to be arrested was Trump. Since when do people believe a fucking thing he says? He said it and the entire country reacted exactly the way he wanted them to from the Republican pols screaming about persecution to his fans wanting to build a human moat around him to liberal talking heads crowing “we got him!”. He knows that if he can blow this up, the more serious cases will be harder to prosecute. Aside from anything else he is, he is a master manipulator and everyone will do well to remember that.
The New York Police Department said in a statement it had an increased uniformed presence throughout the city and stressed that “there are currently no credible threats” to New York, but that it remained ready to respond to protests and counterprotests.
I wonder how many incredible threats are going to pop up.

The last time he said something similar was when the FBI was raiding Mar-A-Lago. You might listen to “the boy who cried wolf” after the first time the wolf showed up.
Not the same. When he announced that, the raid was verifiably happening at that time. He didn’t predict it, he just used the situation for his own benefit. This time, he is predicting something (total bullshit as far as anyone else knows) to use for his own benefit.

Which does raise an interesting point.
If TFG calls for massive protests, and nobody shows up to actually you know, protest, that fact will be widely disseminated in the rest of RW circles.
He of course will claim the yugest crowds in earthly history gathered to protest his innocence. But much like the Four Seasons Landscaping case, it’ll just serve to make him further of a laughing stock amongst the rest of the RW BS-o-sphere.
It reinforces the narrative that he’s a spent force who’s a legend in nobody’s mind but his own. Which is not a powerful place for TFG to fight a nomination battle from.
He should’ve said he was going to be arrested in two weeks.
They will make that claim.
I was musing about this today as I went about my business. It occurred to me it would be rather droll if, after all this spin-up, Alvin Bragg indicts Trump on a misdemeanor. “Here, enter your plea, pay your fine and go on about your business. Thank you!”
How willing do you suppose the outraged Republicans and supporters will be to lead with their chins next time Trump bugles? You can almost hear it: Whomp, whomp!!
And Trump puts out a press release saying “We made them back down!!!”
It is going to be “Persecution!!” or “Victory!!” no matter what happens.
Oh, I agree, that’s what they’ll say. But they might be privately thinking something else (for those who have this capacity, and some of them do).
Saw a NY Times headline this evening saying trump’s looking forward to his perp walk. Betcha he threw that “indicted Tuesday!” crap out there so he could bask in the turmoil it would incite, and he’s imagining his perp walk as a triumphant procession – not handcuffed, oh, no, they wouldn’t dare – but marching heroically to face down the craven evildoers as his adoring supporters flood the streets to rescue him.
