I agree too. I love that news organizations are using the words “Trump,” “had sex with,” “pornstar” and “fraud” in the same sentence, repeatedly, again. Just a good reminder for people in the middle of what a dirtbag the Republican party has attached itself to. A nice appetizer to whet the appetites before the main course(s) begin.
Sure, but news organizations are still telling the story by using the words “Trump,” “had sex with,” “pornstar” and “fraud” all in the same sentence, repeatedly. That’s potentially terrible PR for him and the Republican Party when it comes to people in the middle, notably suburbanite women, politically-moderate Christians and seniors.
That’s what makes this indictment such a juicy appetizer, and so fitting for such a filthy person.
The real problem is we need convictions within no more than 12 months to stop the Cheato from being the R nominee. Right now the Daniels case might not even be ready to begin to proceed to think about being scheduled for an initial hearing by then. And it appears to be ahead of all the others in the hopper.
I dunno, man. I’m really pretty unimpressed with just about anyone who has voted R lately. But I’m charitable enough to think that if there are multiple indictments, there might be enough Rs w/ a minimal amount of decency to say, “Well, old Sleepy Joe has his issues, but at least…”
Criminal trials can be held 3 to 6 months after indictment. I’m sure Trump’s team will cry they need a lot more time because of all the documents, etc. The Judge should tell the to take the millions he just raised for his defense and use it to hire sufficient staff to get ready on time.
So I’ve had my champagne. Well- am having. They didn’t have small bottles so I told him (Paul, he runs the joint.) “Looks like I’ll have to get a big bottle, then.” But it’s Friday and I’m home from work.
Here’s to the indictment!
I was able to get ChatGPT to cooperate in generating Trumpistical statements by neutrally asking for writing in that style, but it balked when it was qualified with terms like “… Trump complaining about …” which it took to be requesting mockery.
When I asked whether this should not be permissible when the individual in question is objectively deserving of mockery, it wagged its little metal finger at me at lectured me about ethics and respect.
I sincerely hope you’re right. But another word for cock-eyed optimist is “willfully blind”.
Each indictment will increase the outrage of the True Believers. Which will give more and more cover to the forces of skullduggery to tilt the electoral process more and more in the R’s favor. The election in 2024 is not about the votes. It’s about the counting of the votes in a dangerously small number of readily identified and easily suborned jurisdictions.
IMO that’s the process that needs to get headed off at the pass here in 2023 while there’s still time and citizen plus judicial bandwidth to deal with it.
AIUI, it was the DA himself who was saying he expected it to take at least a year to get to trial.
I’m not shocked by this (but I share your disappointment) One thing to remember is that almost all courts are really backed up due to COVID. We’re coming out of it now, but nothing is happening as fast as it used to.
I certainly hope so too. The problem is not so much the total number, but their geographical distribution.
Some of the news from the mid-terms was encouraging. But there are still areas where Cheato rules. Carry enough of those at the right time in the primary flow and Bingo: Donnie’s your Uncle. As in Sam. And then we’re all toast.
Sure. With a criminal record you can’t get a job involving any sort of responsibility, such as janitor or dog-walker. But there is no obstacle to becoming President of the United States. In the words of Yakov Smirnoff, “America! What a country!”
To be fair, it does make sense. It makes sure the DOJ doesn’t have the power to prevent someone from running. I assume it’s a separation of powers thing.
Of course, it also means we need well informed voters that can learn about any convictions and decide for themselves how that impacts who they vote for.
