Don’t feel bad. I’m a professional Trump Whisperer. I’ve learned to tell the difference between authentic Twitter rants and people trying to imitate his Twitter rants. An authentic threat would have read something like “Crazy Kevin McCarthy had better hope there are no “videos” of him if he refuses to stop the WITCH HUNT against “Trump”!”
I don’t think it would be a violation of the federal statute, if Trump really said it, because Trump isn’t allegedly threatening to expose a McCarthy crime, but probably just something embarrassing.
Such could violate the law in some states, but not others.
Meanwhile, the case is being made that Trump will be helped in his quest for the nomination if indicted as expected:
I personally think the political effect of indictment is unpredictable, except that it will not deter future crooked politicians.
If guilty of the charges, I hope he is convicted, but if Bragg overreaches, I hope Trump is acquitted. It is disturbing that so many are jumping to conclusions about charges we can now only guess at, as shown in my last link.
Really, a nothingburger. Of course some ‘analyst’ is going to try to argue that Trump will be helped by a criminal indictment, that’s what they get paid to do: Make predictions that no one will remember when they are inevitably wrong.
At a minimum, it will help Trump with fundraising. Unfortunately for my bank balance, I was not paid to say that.
P.S. Of course, some things that Trump could fundraise off should nonetheless be said or done.
