Since the end of the Soviet Union and the Cold War, we don’t hear too much about “communist guerillas” anymore. There’s no USSR subsidizing rebel movements with money and arms. Even China itself pays lip service to it’s renowned founding father while quietly ignoring some of the kookier things Dad said and did when his Alzheimers started to progress. When you hear about radical Communist regimes it’s usually legacy governments like Cuba and North Korea. So who in Nepal is still ranting about manifestos, egalitarianism, the glorious peasants, etc. etc. Where do they get weapons from? Are they just a bunch of murderous cranks like Peru’s Shining Path, or is there any significant (non-extorted) support for them in the hinterlands?
