I’m revising my zombie plan and have decided to commandeer a small plane to fly south to an off-grid neighborhood in Arizona.
Is there such a thing as a version of Mapquest that will plot me the shortest flight path and tell me the distance in nautical miles?
P.S. What kind of fuel do Cessna’s take?
There are tons of GPS units that will provide a moving map display, complete with airports and airspace data. Is that what you’re talking about?
The typical small plane fuel is 100 Low Lead. It’s basically high octane gasoline, but has quite a bit of lead in it.
Cessna’s use Avgas which you buy at any airport with small plane services (most of them of any size whatsoever". What you are looking for is called a flight planner and they are all over the web. MS Flight Simulator X has some good ones. You can’t alwways just fly in a straight line. There is airspace to contend with which could be airspace restricted around a larger airport or over a military installation. It wouldn’t be too cool to escape the zombies and get shot done by a fighter jet.
Here is one such tool but you need to know a little before you can use it:

“Flight planner”, got it. Are any easy enough for a lay person to understand? Like you see the map and lines drawn over it? Or do you need to know how to read charts and stuff?
I figure there’s still time to learn to fly. The zombies aren’t imminent, right?.. Right?
