Marathon training season

So, after a half marathon in November and leisurely 14 mile off road trek between Christmas and New Years, I’ve decided it’s time to start training for a full marathon. Anyone else? Where do you plan to race? After some thought, the course in Buffalo this spring looks simple enough for a first full marathon and it isn’t too far to travel. There would be time to recoup for my home-town race in New York this fall. So that is the plan.

So I’ll officially retire both pairs of NB 1060’s along with all my running socks at the end of January. I’ve got two pairs of Asics Gel Nimbus on order, along with a dozen and half mid-weight Thorlo socks. I’m not following any of the various ‘patented’ training methods. I’ve got limited time during the week, so I’ll do my standard 4miles at 7:10/mile during the week, with 10-15 miles at easy pace on the weekend days. I’ll fit in a couple 18 or 20’s some weekend well before the race. No off days unless I get sore.
