wheelie I am so sorry about Zoe. It is amazing how a small creature can fill a home and your heart.
I am so sorry. They always take a big piece of our hearts when they go.
I’m friends with her on FB - she went to Dallas to visit her “nephew” - not sure if she’s home yet. I’ll prod her to drop in.
Apart from being sore where it’s stitched up, it seems to be functioning just fine. Well, except for the dexterity thing because it’s wrapped in bandaids. He has been using his sticks and he ordered some kind of fancy push tool that does the same thing. I was with him just a bit ago as we cut a bit off the pet door we bought - it was just about half an inch too tall. Now it’s in place and we’re trying to teach Otis to use it. I figure he’ll master it shortly. But since it’s raining…
It wasn’t intentional, I promise! And the offending vine has been removed… till he drags out another.
We rode down to the marina to check on the boat before the sky opens. We’ve lunched and, as I mentioned, modified the dog door thingie. FCD is making a couple of attachment strips and it’ll be good to go. Meanwhile, my motivations fizzled. I was going to sew, but I can’t make myself. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe.
And the snow is coming down! It is still up to 36F so it isn’t sticking yet, but the weather guessers say it will by evening. My plan for the rest of the day is day drinkin’, smokin’, stitchin’ and watching the lovely snow fall over the forest ![]()
I was productive this morning and a notarized request for two certified marriage certificates is in the mail.
I couldn’t find it in me to get mad about this, its like I’m doomed to never succeed. I’m sure the missing documents will show up once the replacements arrive.
It sounds like the long end of a successful and fun trip, I hope the fuzzbutts forgive you soon!
I’m wondering if this will be a problem for future Mollie as well. Passports require proof of chain of custody from father to husband and my name doesn’t match my birth certificate because I changed my name when I got married. It was the custom back then.
If you start using Mollie on official documents, be sure to keep copies of EVERYTHING to avoid this sort of issue.
Your trip sounds and looked wonderful, I’m so happy you had a good time.
Where would you go if the sirens went off? Does your building have a safe area? Do you put your carriers by the door just in case? When I was prepping due to wild fires, I always put bags of their kibbles in their carriers so I didn’t have to worry about it getting misplaced in the rush.
Tsk. Did you really just post that online, you silly man?
It sounds like he was meant to get it, how exciting. I hope you come back soon with great news!
@BippityBoppityBoo Thanks so much for checking in, I know you’ve been recovering from surgery. Have you got better arm mobility now or are you still in the PT part?
Luckily, my chosen name is only a couple letters different than my given name. It’s just the feminized version. At this point, I’m not sure whether I’ll change my name. But that’s step four hundred and sixty-seven. I’m still on step five or so.
We did. Thank you. ![]()
I’m sorry for your loss, wheelie. Hugs.
I put kibble and a couple of bottles of water in Nelson’s dog park / travel bag. I don’t have a standard carrier for him, but Sis made something like a baby sling for us that allows me to carry him hands-free in the front. I put him in it now and again just to make sure he doesn’t freak out because it’s strange. He actually likes being carried next to my body.
Good to hear from you BBBoo. I’m glad that baker and oopsie are still among the upright too.
New doggie door. He’s got it figured out already, but it’s raining, so he’s not venturing out.
There’s a panel to slide in place on the inside to lock it as needed.
Well, of course. Murphy and all that.
Motivation has not materialized. But my recliner beckons. Nor have the gale force winds galed up, tho I suppose it could still happen. It’s been raining on and off, and we may still get t-storms tonight. Or not. Who knows?
I think I want to go out for supper. Maybe. We’ll see how the weather looks in 2 hours.
jtc, at home i have a pram to put the cats in, the building garage is underground. the cats like the pram. lager especially, koritza is a bit more difficult. i do have a concern that i would be at the office when an emergency happens at home.
in the office, once again building garage.
wheelz, i’m so sorry about zoe. it is so very quiet without them.
fcm, cool otis door.
The snow is now sticking! This is so exciting, I love watching it come down.
That is some big brain thinkin’ right there! It doesn’t surprise me that Nelson likes being in it, he feels safest when he’s in your arms.
We had one of those for our first catio. It worked great for the entire 8 years we used it, but the sun did yellow the flap a lot. I’ll bet it will make your life much easier.
Do you think your pram would hold a panicked Maine Coon? George is NOT a good traveling cat and he is heavy, so I’ve been thinking about one of those. I haven’t been able to get my hands on one locally and don’t want to risk ordering something I will send right back.
Hah! I’m not even out of the post-surgery suture removal stage yet. Titanium plate and 12 pins and fancy bone screws later still fighting persistent pain round the clock. It was a month yesterday that I fell and broke it. Couldn’t tolerate oxycodone (why would anyone abuse that/ no fun at all)so gritted my teeth and went with pioneer woman stoicism and lots of ice and huge doses of other non-opioid pain meds on top of each other. Sapped my spirit and energy. Dealing with pain and sharply limited function turns out to be exhausting. Had to resort to having my 8 year grand daughter helpme pull up my pants after peeing. Amused her to no end.
My cat doesn’t mind cause it meant I was sitting down with ice packs a lot more and left home less so she got a lot more lap time.
Sutures are supposed to come out later this week-it’s a huge long incision stitched up to look like it’s already been autopsied. I shoulda asked for our Jane to do the stitching. It would have look much better. Now it looks like I started to slit my wrists and got distracted part way through. I might have to get a tattoo to cover that ugliness up-maybe a trail of meandering kitteh paw prints.
Thanks for the good wishes from every one. I’ll be back more when I have more than one finger to type with.
@Wheelz
My heart hurts for you-here’s hoping the Universal Cat Distribution System visits you and your wife at just the right time for all needed healing to happen.
jtc:
the pram handled a 20+ pound lager just fine. although lager is very laid back. the pram gives them room to move around easily. my guys (3 at the time) took to it straight away. when i put it together i left it out. within 5 minutes they had their spots all set. they liked napping in it.
i keep newest one folded up in a closet. lager is very happy when i bring it out.
Whew, this weather.
It’s a windy 31F and snowing, with a hard freeze forecast tonight. I can hear trees creaking in the gusts and it gives me the willies.
Morning coffee was Seattle’s Best dark roast in the auto-drip and it was so good I drank a second pot.
After tending to the animals, I’ve spent an exciting day waiting on UPS (delayed, grrrr) and trying to keep my little fig trees from freezing. The stoopit things already put out new growth and the wind keeps blowing the coverings off.
Everybody have a safe evening!
@Wheelz, I am so sorry about your kitty.
The weather soothsayers are calling for more snow for a while, but then Thursday it’ll get up to 52 ferrets. I’m gonna put the spiky thing back on my cane, at least for a few days. People look at that thing, and they look worried, like I’m some kind of ruffian. I’m 6’ 4", which intimidates some people, but I’m a gentle soul.
Wheelie, I’m sorry to hear about your dear cat. It hurts to let them go.
Mollie, I opted for the bifocal implants. They’re not as good as the original equipment at adapting to near and far, but after a few days I got the hang of it. I can’t explain how I switch from near to far. Like my eye doc said, you just have to let your brain figure it out. There are some out of focus places, and I use drugstore reading glasses (+2) for some things. Most of the time, I don’t need glasses. It helps to keep a magnifier for teensy details like I sometimes see in jigsaw puzzles.
I have hearing loss from decades in a noisy factory. I use hearing aids. I’ve read about cochlear implants, but from what I’ve read, they can’t do music. I can’t live without music, so I’ll stick with the hearing aids.
Back from Salsa’s with half my supper boxed for tomorrow’s lunch. It rained but we have yet to experience the howling winds of up to 70MPH (depending on which website you choose.) There’s enough of a breeze now to move the tops of some trees, but that’s all.
We left Otis out in the yard but he was in the house when we returned - he’s got the hang of the door. I want to get a doormat to sit in front of it to at least minimize what he might drag in. Other than that, I’m pleased with it so far.
And other than erranding and helping to get the pet door assembled and installed, I’ve done nothing. So it goes…
It’s especially important since I’ve used a cane.
Had to resort to having my 8 year grand daughter helpme pull up my pants after peeing.
Isn’t it humbling! My sister had to help me with going to the bathroom for a couple of weeks after hospitalization.
My sister-in-law reports that a garbage truck caught fire directly outside their house this afternoon. Per protocol, the driver dumped the load in the street rather than destroy the truck. The fire department came and eventually extinguished the flaming heap of rubbish. SIL says the house smells like it was on fire.
Just another day in paradise.
I napped, interruppted by bio breaks(2) Big Toe cramps(both), and a mighty wind blew though at 7:00pm, so I’m up, having an Old Fashioned, cheeseburger, and fries.
And it’s snowing outside…in March..in Alabama… And I don’t mean little wisps of snow, this is full-fledged, white-sky, sticking to the ground snow.
The sheeting rain changed over to snow sometime in the middle of the night. Very wet, heavy snow.
< buys bread, milk, and eggs in sympathy >
it’s amazing how one tiny little kitty can fill up the place, and how big a hole they leave behind.
Indeed. {{{{Wheelz}}}}

Had that happen once when I lived in Da Hood. Also good metaphor for < gestures at everything >
Now it’s in place and we’re trying to teach Otis to use it. I figure he’ll master it shortly. But since it’s raining…
Princess Pretty Paws Mk II?
I’m sure the missing documents will show up once the replacements arrive.
Extras are useful.
i do have a concern that i would be at the office when an emergency happens at home.
Had that happen, worst feeling in the world.
Thanks for the good wishes from every one. I’ll be back more when I have more than one finger to type with.

Howdy Y’all! Been home for a bit but needed to chill. Speakin’ of chill, the temp has gone from 68 Amurrkin when I woke up to 44 ferrets and droppin’. We had lots of rain through mid afternoon. We may get down to 32 ferrets tonight. So glad to be inside and warm. OYKW has gone to bed and I shall join him shortly. Night all!
Sticky_Buns so glad to know your mom is better and closer to home now.
{{{Wheelie}}} so sorry about Chloe. She had the best life and I know she knew she was much loved.
Mollie glad y’all enjoyed the getaway.
BooFae glad y’all had a great time as well.
*BBBOO glad the healin’ progresses however slowly it may feel.
Mrs Magill and I reviewed the cataract options. I’m going with the option that will correct my astigmatism, which should restore my eyesight back to where it was in my twenties, when I just wore glasses rarely. The difference between the full service multifocal and this was nearly $8000, which I didn’t think was worth it. But there goes my deductible for the year.
