Contrary to the intentions of having to go through all of this crap, the powers behind it will find in the future that women will just not change their names upon marriage. It won’t lessen the burden upon those who already have, but it will take care of the younger set.
Glad your first day on the job was a success, flyboy.
While we didn’t get any white stuff, it was 38F when I walked Nelson this morning. To top it all off, it’s supposed to hit 90F Saturday.
Yeah, same here. I still need to put my paperwork all in one place too.
Your carrier, old or new, will do the data transfer for you. It doesn’t even take long.
There’s still the undies.
Happy Saint Patrick’s day!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I’ve made the menu and grocery list out and will do a few household chores today, but RDOS the rest of the day. I’m ready for it to get warmer.
After my daughter divorced her first idiot, she returned to her birth name (I hate the expression maiden name.) So if she goes to get a passport again, could she get away with her birth cert and her latest marriage license? Who’s gonna know? Not that she plans to get a passport any time soon. With luck, the stoopidity will have passed when she’s ready for one.
I did my requisite sewing. We’ll take the cover for a fit check and so I can figure how much hem it’ll need. Then we install snaps and it’ll be ready to go. As an aside, I had to bandage my right thumb again - the split by the side of the nail started opening again and hurting, so it’s been getting a glop of vaseline before being wrapped up. That gives me an instant thimble!! So, bonus owie!
FCD asked about taking the grands on a cruise. They’re not old enough yet (yeah, I know, but I want Tobias to be older before we take them.) And much as I don’t want to go on a Carnival cruise, they seem to offer the best options from Baltimore right now. We’ll see what the future brings - I’m figuring at least 2 more years.
we’ve dropped 30 degrees in philly. we are at 33ishf. one of those very bright sunny after a storm clear days. as the song says, “we can see forever” from the 29th floor office. we did get a deluge overnight. when i went to bed at 11:30ish it was raining sideways.
last night while waiting for the shuttle, one of those uber eats robots was going down the sidewalk. it was a bit of a star wars moment. it looked very like those little black box robots. the uber eats robot is a bit taller and white/light beige. pretty crazy. i’m sure at some point it will be annointed by a dog.
I was in the Mez today, doing data entry and address corrections. It was a tad busy as Nike was having a bad day. a bunch of the packages needed data entry, and I guess their data entry people didn’t ave a “Tab” key on their computers, because most of the ones that did had “123MainSt” crowed into the street number box. But other than, not too bad of a day. I stopped on the way home and got cat food. They were out of hairball control, so I got indoor cat. Spot will have a Telenova style meltdown.
Cool!
I guess the Travel Screw Up Fairy was stuck on your usual work train.
I guess he was looking for a mail order Shoggoth bride.
No boom here. [Susan Ivanova]No boom today. Boom tomorrow, there’s always a boom tomorrow[/Susan Ivanova]
No snow here in the American Southeast, but Spring sends nourishment up the vines growing on our tree trunks. While peeling this off, I must have touched poison ivy and rubbed my eyes. Now my face looks like I’ve put a rondo hat on.
So sorry to hear. It does get more and more difficult to lose them, and we thought perhaps we were done when our Q’itih had to leave us. But after a few months, it just became empty around here without a furball and we opted for an older cat that wouldn’t outlive us. She’s such a sweet girl and I’m glad we did it, but it will likely be devastating when she’s gone. But at least we’ve given her a home away from a pet shelter.
A dead day today, without even the laundry to provide a distraction. We’ve already hit today’s high of 16F, but tomorrow will see us in the 40s again and hopefully this is our last gasp for the winter storms.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
It’s a briliant sunny day in Nawth Jawja and 37 ferrets outside. The princess dog is wound up and rarin’ to go. We call this “Labrador weather” because the cold makes her so happy.
I made a double round of Kirkland French Roast in the auto-drip and filled the thermos. There are downed limbs in the yard and I might need to do some road-clearing on the way to the mailbox.
My poor widdle figs didn’t keel over, but I come from farther south and have no idea what a frostbitten twig looks like.
My friend is a really tall dude, and he’s also really broad because he does MMA-- heavyweight class, he can pick me up with one hand and from up there the floor is very far away. He’s as sweet as pie but apparently he’s scary to some people. It is a real and distressing problem for him.
Mmmm, French toast!
That sounds like an encouraging start!
Is it true that tellers have a secret button to push if a bank robber hands them a note?
@Seanette and @The_Stainless_Steel_Rat , absorbable sutures. I know this because I have a nasty sensitivity to one called Vicryl. My vet likes the skin glue with cats because, if they can reach the incision, cats tend to take their sutures out as soon as they’re able. With the adhesive they spend less time in The Cone.
Ewww! We have a doggie door and slide the solid panel in at night after snakes made their way inside a couple of times. That was exciting.
I agree and it makes me laugh. It’s not so funny for my girlfriends with multiple marriages who are doing a mad scramble for records. I was lucky, got married in 1993 and kept my father’s name for professional reasons. Nobody even commented about it. What did raise eyebrows at that time were the couples who chose hyphenated surnames. That was a sure sign of extreme Liberal-ness.
Sitting in the Hyundai dealership lounge as my car gets serviced. Yesterday I was told it would take an hour. Just now I was told an hour anna half. We shall see. At least they have wifi.
Supper will be veggie beef barley soup. So I did think a little ahead.
Plumber is here and making various holes in the house which will need repairing. Used the time to do some soccer work and re-confirm my April Vacation plans (about 3 weeks before I leave, hard to wrap my head around it). Waiting to see if the Parks will open the fields or not, it is clear and sunshiny but only 40F and there is a freeze warning for tonight so not sure if the fields will be open or not. So been sitting around the house all day and not doing much of anything, maybe I can get to the gym tonight but not betting the ranch on it. Total sloth ain’t all it’s cracked up to be…
Taters, Costco obviously knows how to cater to customers… As for taxes, my US Government refund hit the bank today, now waiting for the State to do it’s thing.
FCM, lots of cruise lines cater to the littles these days, but yeah, let them grow up another 2-3 years so they can really enjoy it.
ANd I have read all but the ennui inhabiting me hasn’t found any responses. Guess I’ll see how the plumbers doing and get another A&W (FCM, you were right, it the Zero Sugar brand tastes much like the original). Press on folks.
That was a productive counselling session. When she first addressed me as “Mollie,” my heart leapt. I’d never been called that before, and it felt good. I also affirmed my name and my gender… several times, and got weepy each time. After confirming it would be appropriate, I showed her pictures of Mollie, and she said I was pretty, which made me weepy, too.
I guess I know which road I’m on. I suppose I should get ready for a bumpy ride.
No legal marijuana of any kind in Nebraska, not that the voters haven’t overwhelmingly voted for it. Our repressive multimillionaire governor and his henchmen think they know better than 2 million citizens and have blocked it bureaucratically every which way from Sunday.
Fortunately a very dear friend sent me a care package with some very carefully selected um…Boo treats (in two flavors) as well as some crunchy kitteh treats for Moxie. They have helped me get some decent sleep at night. Making you not care about the pain is an apt description. Moxie is pretty tickled with her treats too, not that she has any trouble sleeping….
Back home at last - I swear, I hit every light between there and here. At least when we weren’t stopped, we kept moving. That sounds stoopit…
Anyway, as usual, the dealer gave me a list of things they say I need to get done - some that were due at 60K miles, some at 100K - did I mention I have 223K miles?? The total came to just shy of $2K, including changing my wiper blades for $93.66!!!
I would like to smack whoever changed my seat height. I know tall folks sit lower than I do, but it would have been nice if they’d put the seat back. I felt like I was falling when I got in the car! How weird that 2" or so would make such a difference!
We just foraged for supper - I had a sammich. Tonight is for chillage. Tomorrow, who knows??
When I had my Yaris, whenever I took it to the dealership for servicing, it came back with the seat pulled waaaaaaaaay forward. Now, I’m not really tall, but whoever drove it back to the pick up bay was really short. One day, I caught a glimpse of that guy: he was a fifty-something Latino guy and about 5’ tall. Come to find out, all of their oil change jockeys except him were young folk under 25 and none of them drove a stick. Margarito was the only one who could drive my car.
I talked to Dad on the phone this afternoon. Supper was leftover Ethiopian lentil stew and a quesadilla. Mixed up the origins a little, but it worked.
Evening all. Plumber left about 4:30pm, he’ll be back around 8am tomorrow and hopefully finish the job. Will have to get someone in to repair the walls and some of the tiling, but at least it will be done and hopefully no more plumbers calls for the future. Coached soccer, despite it being cold the sun was out so it wasn’t too bad, but it’s dark now and I suspect it’ll be below freezing before too long. Came home and ate some more, I am understanding why I was nearly 300lbs a few years ago, this day is an outlier compared to these days where I exercise regularly and watch my calories, but today would have been normal 4-5 years ago. Guess I can be a glutton a few times a year…
Mollie, the ride will be bumpy, but if it’s the correct path the end of the trip will be worth it.
And I think we’re done here…
FCM, not too bad for 223,000 miles. And yeah, that hard labor to put on new wipers really costs…/s I have the opposite problem being 6’2" and the guy/lady driving the car is 6-10" shorter…just like red’s mechanic.
