The pharmaceutical and alcohol lobbies have spend hundreds of millions to oppose it over the decades with sleazy lies. Of course the last thing society needs is fewer people consuming booze and Oxies.
yep. because MONEY
Cannabis is already a factor in decreasing sales of alcohol.
I’ve never used weed in any form, for a variety of reasons. I have no quibbles with making it schedule III.
I wonder how this will affect people who need clearances for their job. In theory, if I used pot and it was detected somehow, I could lose my job.
A funny story from decades ago re schedule 3 drugs: My husband had surgery. They gave me a prescription for his pain meds beforehand, and I was calling around to find a nearby pharmacy that had it in stock. One didn’t - and the person on the phone said in horror and disdain “That’s a SCHEDULE THREE DRUG” (the “you drug-addled junkie!” was not said, but was strongly implied).
Um, yeah. so what, bitch??? It’s prescribed, and it’s legal.
I would definitely avoid using it if I had a Federal security clearance. It’s still not legal at the Federal level. It does make it easier to be able to do medical research which is huge.
I rarely smoke weed anymore but this is long overdue.
That’s the question though: if it’s reclassified as schedule III, doesn’t that mean it’s no longer completely illegal at the Federal level?
Too bad the change in status is only an Executive Order, and not a formal act of Congress. As I recall, Marijuana’s classification on Schedule 1 was part of the actual text of the Controlled Substances Act, and is still (on the books, at least) the law of the land.
I’m not qualified to answer that but it hasn’t been completely rescheduled. This is a weird half measure thing where cannabis that is sold as medical, not recreational, at shops where it is legal at the State level is considered Schedule III.
That means that you’d need to get a “recommendation” from a medical doctor and find a medical shop. A lot of States with both medical and recreational will have medical shops for various reasons.
Interesting point.
I think I’ll hold off anyway ![]()
Free LSD would be great. The only good therapy for me.
Hey! Does this mean that now guys won’t be able to tell you, “what the real crime here is, man?”
What’s more gratifying than walking into a subway train and sitting down and having to inhale someone else’s weed smoke?
I ask you. What?
Forget walking down the sidewalk, where one gets to inhale many variants of the evil weed smoke.
But, dude. I am up on Fridays at 3:25 am, on a NYC subway by 4:15am. IN THE FUCKING MORNING !!! A fine time to spliff up, apparently.
The question is no longer asked, and has not been for years, ( at least not in NYC ), "God, what is this guy/ gal–stoned ??? "
They are. It’s adorable.
Not.
Go ahead, fully legalize it. Stop using it to deploy wholly racist practices as to who is or is NOT arrested and prosecuted.
But god damn it, it is everywhere.
YES
but, I live in a small town and I partake, albeit much less than I used to*. it is NOT everywhere. in every sense, YMMV
*thank God for edibles so I can now figure out just how small a dose I need and/or want
Are you comfortable saying if you live in a state where it’s legal to own and use?
Also, gummies and oils are useful and DON’T STINK UP THE ROOM. ![]()
If someone lives in the wrong (right?) part of the country they can’t go a day out in public without being assaulted by the stench of second-hand MJ smoke. Or without talking with, or standing with, people whose bodies and clothing are exuding MJ smoke stench.
Sure be nice if there was a delivery vehicle(s) without all the social vandalism bundled in. Oh wait, there is. Lotta folks don’t use it though. Idjits.
legal, as it should be
it used to be that way with cigarette smoke. in fact, there are times I want to step outside of a building for some fresh air and there isn’t any because of all the smokers. but I haven’t lived in a city for years, so dunno if it’s still an issue. What did people who want clean air do about it? honestly asking.
Prohibit burning leaves for recreation.
It sure did use to be that way with cig smoke everywhere. And then we had a very nice ~30 years where that tobacco stench was gone and the other stench of MJ was not yet common.
Now MJ stench is everywhere. We’re going backwards.
Not I’m not complaining about the availability of THC as a recreational drug. I just object to airborne delivery due to the unavoidable side effects on other people. Even if only annoyance.
Burning flower is so 20th Century. I buy gummies, cartridges and wax from the dispensary.
Vape fucking stinks. MJ or otherwise.
But good for you for trying. Like the song says, two out of three ain’t bad.
Assuming I understand correctly how wax is consumed. If not 1 out of 3 aint so good.
