Who’d have thought that the sworn enemy of Christianity would have trouble making holy matrimony work?

badchad’s getting a divorce?
Oh, Marilyn Manson. Never mind.
YES!
Dita was too good for him… and luckily I’m just right for her.
If you really want a good read into their lives the last few years, try http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/article2130042.ece
That one makes it look like he’s gotten into some kind of substance abuse or addiction, or depressed. She says he’s non responsive and can’t communicate. I’m not a fan of his, but I hope he isn’t going off the deep end or something.
Bryan: personal insults are not permitted in Cafe Society. Lord knows, you’ve been around long enough to know that without me having to remind you. Please, don’t.
I disagree that qualifies as an insult, since “sworn enemy of Christianity” is a title that by all indications would be embraced by badchad (in fact, it applies to him far more accurately than to Manson) and it’s clearly simply a joke at his expense. I won’t raise it again.
I like MM, and I have little opinion on Dita except that she’s got a gorgeous body/face/image. Other than that I know nothing of her.
Manson, on the other hand, is a genius level artist who has contributed quite copiously to music and art. And he was also friends with Hunter S. Thompson, and I’d like to have been a fly on that wall.
Chances are he’s really fucked up on drugs, alcohol, or whatever, or maybe he just got bored with Dita. I mean, she’s so perfect she appears untouchable. I think she rode his back to fame and to her it might not even matter now that it’s not working out. Who knows? People’s private and public lives are complicated and weird.
IANAM, but it doesn’t matter if it’s an insult or not. It was a personal remark regarding a doper who wasn’t even participating in this thread; it reads like a childish attempt to goad someone else into breaking CS rules. In any case (still not a mod here; just pontificating), it was a remark not about the subject at hand, but “at the expense of” (there’s your problem right there) another doper. Verboten, as I understand it, without exception, in CS.
Not to extend the hijack, since Ekers has said he won’t raise it again. Only that it seemed clear to me, while not to him, so I offer what little clarity I can.
Aaaaaaaand–hijack over.
Oh, brother. It was a toss-away quip in no way insulting to anyone, least of all the very proudly anti-Christian Badchad.
Hmmm, wonder why she wanted to change her name…
She says he’s unresponsive and can’t communicate? Then what the hell’d she marry herself a rock & roller for?
Miss von Teese is missing a bet if she doesn’t check out ole Doug here. I offer her that highly unusual combination of musical talent, scintillating repartee, a sharp 40s vintage wardrobe, and a raging, insatiable foot fetish.
I read the thread title and was thinking, "Oh that girl from Who’s the Boss*? I’ve been out of the loop, I guess.
In a surprise development, Alice Cooper has also filed suit against Manson. He’s requesting to have his act back.
As a near constant target of such “toss away quips”–constantly being *dared * to react to a fight-starter dropped into a thread in which I was not even participating–I can offer a different perspective, Lib. It’s cool it didn’t bother you; that is utterly irrelevant and is only about you. It’s still personal and intentionally–if minimally deniably (witness, you)–provocative, and as such is not allowed in CS according to posted rules. It doesn’t bother you? Fine, skip over it. That doesn’t minimize the fact that it does bother others, and is–trumping here–against the rules.
Now, seriously, hijack over. If you want to discuss this further, Lib (although why you would I have no idea, since it’s such a non-event for you), please start a Pit thread.
I’ll join you outside the loop. I thought he married Rose McGowan.
I didn’t really ever see Mr. Warner as the marrying type. Too many drugs, a lot of baggage from his childhood, and a penchant for screwing with people’s perceptions would all be contributing factors in my opinion of his ability to hold together a marriage. From the little that I know of him, he does seem to naturally be a bit distant, as do many celebrities who are in the music industry. Dita von Teese may just have gotten in over her head by marrying him, as it may have emphasized the issue of his distant personality beyond her ability to deal with it.
Either way, better luck next time.
Cooper seems to be a little sharper at the marrying game, having been with his wife for over 30 years.
And raised three great kids who have never been in any trouble and remain a tight family. Matter of fact, Alice’s daughter Calico is part of his act, doing the roles originated by her mother.
I’m so out of the Manson loop that I totally missed the marriage and I’ve got to say that I’m shocked that he got married at all. He always struck me as a little too into his character, unable to separate “Marilyn” from “Brian” as Alice was able to do.
