Mariut's "El Bimbo" used for Magic

Inspired by this thread about traditional music played in certain stereotypical scenes, we have such an instance here in Japan.

Whenever there is a magic act on TV or some magician is performing on variety programs, the tune “El Bimbo” by Paul Mariut is playing in the background. I’ve watched/heard this type of scene on various networks and programs here on Japanese television. By the way, the Japanese title of the tune translates to “The Olive Necklace.”

Is there some connection (outside Japan) between Paul Mariut’s tune and the art of magic?
