It’s not really that anyone is saying there are not contracts. It’s just that this isn’t a contract - not any kind of contract i’ve ever seen anyway. There are degrees of BDSM activity and i’d certainly be pretty squicked over but if adults are into it and agree to it then i’m not gonna judge them. But this doesn’t look anything like an agreement between two adults. I have to say i tend to agree with Maastricht’s take that it’s mostly a written fantasy.
The Highwayman: BDSM contracts are not intended to have any legal status. It’s more a written agreement between partners which makes clear the ‘rules’ of engagement. Personally i think the word ‘contract’ is a poor one for these documents but it’s what is commonly used so…meh.
