Every female on Buffy was hotter than Buffy. Willow, Cordy, Tara, Anya, Joyce, Dawn, Faith, Darla, Drusilla…even Amy the Rat was better looking than the lead actress.
As Amy, I’d tend to agree with you. As the rat, not so much.
And let’s not forget Angel. Fred and Lilah were both hotter than Cordelia, and in completely different ways.

While I won’t join in the mockfestof SMG, she was much better looking during the early Buffy years, when she still ate the occasional cheeseburger and had boobs. Linda Cardellini, though…yum. Definite addition to the harem when I am God-King.
Yeah, see Kaylee is just the type girl I have always fallen for. She is a natural beauty that looks good when she wakes up in the morning, dressed up for a special occasion or with her hair pulled back and hands covered in grease from working on her own car. I prefer a woman in a baseball cap with hair in a ponytail and sweatshirt sleeves pulled up to a sequined gown any day. Women who come across as real and not a plastic Barbie are the most attractive to me. Like Ms.Nic; a lover, a partner and a friend.
I always preferred Betty to Veronica in the old Archie comic books.

But in this case, that was clearly the intent; Robert Vaughn was supposed to be the lead and David McCallum was supposed to be his good looking co-star.

I definitely preferred Mary Ann to Ginger and Bailey to Jennifer.
I only watch the first season or two of Buffy and only a few episodes, I thought all 3 girls were smoking hot in their own ways, but Willow was the cutest by far. I like Cute. 
Here is a weird one, I thought Allyce Beasley was cuter than Cybill Shepherd on Moonlighting.
In Bewitch I thought the actress that played Serena was both hotter and cuter than Samantha Stephens.

Dawns Wells was Miss Nevada in 1960 and competed in the Miss America pageant. It’s not like the producers had to smear vaseline on the lens to make her look good.
Mary Richards might have had more all-American-girl good looks, but I always preferred Rhoda.
