In a discussion over on another board, we were discussing the recent NBC version of Peter Pan, and I mentioned that Mary Lou Retton was in it once, but nobody else seemed to remember it; I got replies of, “Are you sure you aren’t thinking of Cathy Rigby?” and “Are you sure you’re not thinking of when she was Tiny Tim in Scrooged?”
I did find a mention of it online, but it was a one-liner by someone who played trumpet in the orchestra during her run. She was not on Broadway.
Does anybody else remember this, and if so, do you remember any of the details? (e.g. when was it, and was it part of some tour)?
All I could find were references to people who thought she should play Peter Pan, or were confused that she hadn’t. She also gets listed on a lot of sites which list both her and Cathy Rigby, so people probably Googled it and combined the two references. “Famous gymnasts who went on to acting… Mary Lou Retton played blah blah blah Peter Pan!” and the blah blah blah part is “a character on Scrooged, while Cathy Rigby played…”
