Hey folks, Microsoft is having a Mass Effect 2 DLC sale.
Kasumi, Overlord and Shadow Broker are all on sale for 200 microsoft points, today only. That means you have about 21.5 hours from this OP’s time stamp.
Darn.
As an early adopter of all the DLC I feel somewhat burnt.
Does this apply to the PC version? They use the “bioware store” which uses some stupid points system like the microsoft store - identical, actually, I think. But their website says the DLC for both is full price. How do you get the sale? Gotta log in in game?
Which DLC is worth it?
Oh, crud, sorry… I had no idea that DLC was done differently on PC’s than Xbox.
For xbox you just go to the marketplace and those three are on sale. If you don’t get the sale because you are on PC, I’m sorry.
I’ll ask a mod to edit the title.
Edit: although maybe that’s wrong and you do have to log in and it’s on sale through BioWare? I wouldn’t expect it, but could be. If so post in this thread or report the OP, I’ve already reported it and asked a mod to change the title to indicate that it’s only for xbox.
That’s fine, I was just wondering if there was a way to do it via PC. You can log into the game and buy the DLC - but I don’t have ME2 installed right now so I was wondering if someone else can check.
Logged into my Bioware account and it seems to be the usual price.
Went into ME2 and clicked on the “New Content” button and it just took me to the same page. So no luck for PC owners.
If people are interested in the DLC anyway I have most of it. Here’s my take on the story non-item packs:
Overlord. Good little sidequest with a stomach turning ending. Makes you feel both sympathy and contempt for a person at the same time. Very well done
Shadow Broker Mostly just a long combat heavy mission. The endboss is a bit silly or totally awesome depending on if you like hitting a dinosaur with your fists to beat it.
Kasumi kind of a James Bond feeling start to the mission with breaking into a vault. Ends up in a long fight so you’ll find something to like or hate about it depending on what you’re looking for. Gives you a slightly overpowered character which is fun. Perhaps the shortest aside from the Zaheed missions.
Cerberus Network gives you Zaheed who’s an amusing mercenary character with a combat loyalty mission (with one really silly ‘moral choice’). You should have this if you bought a new copy of ME2 anyway.
Oh I should have noted The Shadow Broker has one of the coolest areas in the game once you get nearly to the end. The actual game should have had more jaw dropping areas like that.
All of the DLC though has something worth playing. Kasumi is the only one I would hesitate to recommend due to its short length and though enjoyable doesn’t have anything as interesting as Shadow Broker or** Overlord** to make it stand out. If you’re getting them on sale though there’s no reason not to pull the trigger on all of them.
Crap! I just downloaded Shadow Broker yesterday and paid full price.
Sorry, I found out a few days ago that they’d be going on sale, but didn’t know until just a few hours ago how massive the discount would be.
Agreed.
The hull of the Broker’s ship is scary! And disorienting in a way that feels purposeful - that place should mess with your sense of perspective, and it does.
I also quite liked the back-and-forth between Shep and Liara in this DLC - genuinely funny stuff.
“Ah well, it’s still better than the Mako.”
