As I reported in post #10 above, you do NOT get all the DLC, most notably “The Arrival” and “Lair of the Shadow Broker”. You DON’T get Kasumi, but you DO get Zaeed. You can determine which DLC is included by clicking on the “Extra Content” tab in Origin.
I can’t figure out how to get it free. I went to Origin, signed in, and went to the Mass Effect 2 page but I can’t see how to get it. On that page it says it’s $9.99.
I also tried clicking on the “On The House” link but it only has one game there (Syberia).
Any help?
The free offers are limited time. ME2 was available a little while ago. However, $10 is a very good price for the game.
After never, never selling a “The whole goddamned game” edition for Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2, they suddenly have one for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Bastards.
OK, so, WTF is up with Bioware Points ? I just got an ad for those upon logging on Origin.
Now, I understand the appeal of private currency for resellers - and I’ve bought Xbox Microsoft Points. It’s perfect for them : they get to turn hard cash into their own worthless currency, that can only be traded in for their products, AND since they’re the sole issuer of hallowed Points they get to control its exact value.
In other words, it’s a scam. But on Xbox, it’s a scam on a captive market that has no other option.
Who on god’s green Earth would ever buy “Bioware points” that can only be redeemed for game DLC, when you can buy those for regular money at a very similar rate (and shouldn’t, because now you can turn cheevos into DLCs) ?
Origin points you earn by doing Stuff in Origin games - they’re the equivalent of Ubisoft Actions, every time you earn achievements in a game you get points outside the game to buy Moar Stuff with.
Typically there’s an option to buy the same stuff for cold hard cash, but it’s a sliding menu with Origin Points as the default choice.
Ah, got it. It would have been better, I guess, if I had started this game on Origin. I don’t think I want to start from scratch (not with ME:Andromeda coming, currently playing Wolfenstein:The New Order and Rocksmith).
I downloaded ME2 when it was free, and liked it so much I paid for a year subscription to Origin Access. If you pay for a year, its $30, and you get to play a whole bunch of games. ME1,2, and 3, almost all of the Ultima’s (it is Origin, after all), a few DA’s, Titanfall, The newest SimCity, and some more games. I like it.
Microsoft abandoned points and just went to money 4 years ago. I’m astonished Bioware points are still a thing. Is it something they try to push to buy DLC for new stuff or is it a legacy thing for ME they’ve just never gotten around to dumping.
There was a rumor that Bioware was shutting down Bioware Points, but they still seem to be a selling them.
