Mass Effect 2

I played the game a little but don’t like the fighting mechanics. It takes too many bullets to kill an enemy and the weapons have very poor precision.

I hate, hate, HATE the shooter elements of it, too - but the imprecision is a nod to the RPG element - if you play the fighter class (“Soldier” in this game) and level up in the right way the shooting becomes more precise.
I heard if you have only Shepherd and one other crew member alive at the very end during the mad dash for the Normandy, that one crew member gets shot in the face when they’re trying to pull you in. I’d like to see a video of this, if it’s accurate - any help?

Also - I had Legion’s loyalty and was full Renegade. I sent him through the vents. He died at the doors. WTF?
Well finished my insanity playthrough…ugh. Strangely it made me appreciate combat more. I really didn’t like it but having to be very careful and precise made me come to enjoy it by the end.

For a real heartbreak I figured out that if I got all the Heavy Ammo upgrades and the Heavy ammo armor pack and the extra heavy ammo upgrade from the Zaeed mission I’d get 200% ammo for the Cain. I saved it for the endboss thinking two hits with the Cain would do great. I hit it with the first shot taking about 30% of its lifebar away…Missed my second shot. I didn’t even have the energy to be mad at that point. I just watched my missile drifting away into the sky sadly. The endboss is still useless on insanity though. He just took ages to kill.

SoulYou have to have the right fireteam leader or your hacker dies. Try Miranda or Garrus next time. With Legion or Tali in the vents.

Aha - thanks! But for another question,

Is it true you can re-apply to be a Spectre in ME2?

When I went back to the Citadel the first time to talk with Anderson (my chosen councilmember from ME1, plus I saved the council), the council reinstated my status.

Ah, gotcha. I didn’t import for my first playthrough, so the council was quite dead for me. Perhaps that had something to do with it.

Anyone else experience the crash bug on the Reaper ship?

Does anyone know, if I wait to do Tali’s loyalty quest until after I have Legion will there be enough time to trigger the conversations to romance her (I hear Legion gets special dialogue)? I know that you only get a couple missions after you secure Legion before it forces you through Omega so I want to know whether to just do it now or if I can wait.

SPOILERS!

No. You’ll also have a Legion not loyal on the last mission, so he’ll probably get killed. You can do exactly 1 quest after getting the Reaper IFF which should be Legion’s A House Divided (sometimes not even 1 quest if you faff around chatting to people) before the Collectors attack the Normandy. You can still faff around after your crew is abducted, by then they all get liquefied by the time you reach the Collector base.

Unlike ME1 though you can still fly around at the end and do the side-missions after the suicide mission (assuming you get back alive).

What I hate in ME2 is that you don’t get to drive the tank when landing on a planet.

When I visited the Normandy crash site, I used my entire stock of heavy weapons ammo just firing at the Mako again and again.

It still wasn’t dead enough for me. I want the option to nuke the entire planet that it’s on. Or to shoot it into a sun.

And then blow up the sun.

I wasn’t fond of the Mako (I kept wishing they’d just ripped off the vehicle controls from “Halo”), but I didn’t hate it. Oddly enough, my girlfriend loved driving the damn thing. But she also enjoys the mining minigame in ME2, so something’s clearly wrong with her. :stuck_out_tongue:

Does she do contract work? Can I ship her a save file and tell her to concentrate on Platinum?

They took out the most annoying feature in the game and replaced it with something only 98% as irritating, IMO.

Heh. I think she finds it relaxing. She tends to get really excitable and stressed out (not in a bad way) during the action-y bits of the game, and needs time to calm down after the big battles. Sssslllllooooowwwwly scanning planets accomplishes that.

And to be fair, the whole thing is worth it just for the “probing Uranus” easter egg.

Really, Commander?

Did this happen to anyone? None of the FAQs at GameFAQs mention it

I have Thane, Garrus and Miranda (as the biotic specialist) with me for the ‘bubble’ part of the game, and right when we get to the exit, Thane got caught by the swarm. Was it because Miranda isn’t that good a biotic?

You need Samara or Jack as your biotic or someone will always die in that section. (And they need to be loyal as well of course.) Miranda’s not strong enough.

Right, and for all her boasting that she’s good at everything…heh.

I enjoyed driving the Mako. I might even have enjoyed chasing down objects on the map if there hadn’t been so much futzing with steep mountains involved. But I did enjoy fighting with the Mako, especially when I was taking shots at infantry with the big cannon. When I first saw the Mako at the crash site, my own personal flashback was to the time I first got in her on Feros. I went out the door and straight off of the bridge. The fall distance looked pretty significant through the mist. I will wonder forever what the conversation must have been like in the cabin at this point.
