Mass shooting at Bondi Beach, Australia

Okay, thanks.

Don’t drink, don’t smoke, what do you do?
Subtle innuendos follow
There must be something inside

Good catch :+1:

Yes, the hero sustained two gunshot wounds, neither serious from what I read.

At least one of the shooters had their weapons legally, licensed and all.

This is the first mass shooting in Australia since the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, so nearly 30 years.

No, there have been 26 such shootings between Port Arthur and Bondi-

So almost one a year.

Note, however not a single mention of any ideological or religious issues; the sort of issues that are almost certainly the motivating factor for a mass killing like this.

Mind, she’s his mother; her opinion being “biased” is a given.

Oh, and if anyone is reading this in Australia, please go and donate blood today if you can. Even if interstate. Most especially type O.

shooters apparently had ties to islamic state terrorist cell…shocking I know

Per the article above (early days yet) it was the son who was associated with the terrorist cell, which may mean that the radicalization went in the opposite direction than @Babale theorized earlier.

[ no shade on @Babale, I made the same assumption earlier prior to the reporting ]

Combine that with the reporting shared by @Jackmannii, that Naveed (the son) was recently unemployed, it seems very possible that we have a perfect storm of the wrong contacts, a stressful, low-hope situation in his economic future, a father who was willing to listen and was licensed, and many lives being ruined as a result.

Yeah, when we want advice on how to run a peaceful nation we’ll be sure to get advice from the leader of Israel.

Bullshit. If people want to engage they can.

this is a longer version of the guy tackling the shooter…
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12-15/ … /106143864
The disarmed guy gained the bridge and was still firing with another gun along with the son.
No idea who finally killed the fucker… but the guy who disarmed the attacker had several bullets in the shoulder. One of the better ways to achieve his 15 minutes :clinking_beer_mugs:

I don’t know guns but the one that was swiped looked like a WWII 303 with extended magazine

Easy for you to say.

Even if the shooter (the father) had them legally - why would he need 6 guns?

So he could murder a lot of people in a very short period of time.

Even if the son radicalized the dad (and based on prior similar cases of radicalization in Europe, it is generally seems more common for 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants than their parents) the two of them still had to plan this out, and the dad still had to make the decision that giving his son the guns and doing this with him was a better choice than stopping him from doing this and getting him help (there are organizations for parents who want help to deradicalize their kids).

In all seriousness, different guns have different purposes. Different calibers have different purposes.
