The current lead story at the Drudge Report is titled “OFFICIAL ‘KERRY FOR PRESIDENT’ WEBSITE RIDDLED WITH OBSCENITIES”. You can read it here. In this Drudge Report exclusive, Matt presents some shocking information: the official John Kerry campaign website contains the words fuck and/or shit on no less than seven different pages.
Now, seven is a really big number. But is it big enough to qualify the Kerry site as “riddled” with obscenities? A search for “the”, a word I assume appears on the majority of pages on the Kerry website, produces 1551 results. This means that, at best, 0.45% of the pages contain naughty swears. Better yet, most of the swears are used in articles from obscene trash like the Atlantic Monthly and the Harvard Crimson. Not surprisingly, Drudge does not mention the context of the words in his report.
Drudge then tries to paint Kerry as a hypocrite for allowing naughty words to be used on his website:
No, Matt, this is not hypocrisy. However, I suspect that you are guilty of “Kerryocrisy”. I bet you support the right of station owners to not air pornography in the middle of the day. But I’m willing to bet that you, Mr. Drudge, are not a virgin, you fucking hypocrite. Shame!
Sure, Kerry talks like a manly man, he’s a guys guy, not like that wussy GeeDubya. Who gets out there on his “ranch”, clearing brush on the south 2, cuts his delicate hand on some bob wahr and says “Oooh, drat!” Its cause of Laura, you know, like (cue whip sound effect)…
More succinctly, in my own view, Kerry may speak obscenities, GeeDubya is an obscenity.
And if this kind of weak crapola is the best Drudge can do…goody!
Hmm. Since when does using a search box qualify as an “investigation”? I must have conducted twenty investigations in just the past two hours! Now I’m a journalist!
He’s fast becoming the “Drudge who cried Kerry.” I enjoyed how he noted that a similar search of the Bush/Cheney website reveals no such similar finds!
It seems most of the terrible profanities are from articles they have archived in their press clippings section. However some of them apparently come from Kerry’s war diary, such as
. Well, war changes a man.
Maybe if the Bush website included snippets from Bush’s war diary:
Seven days in the week, seven tongues of flame, seven spiritual gifts, seven seals, seven sacraments, seven liberal arts, seven petitions of the Lord’s prayer, seven loaves… The meaning of Drudge’s column in light of the well of Bersabee, proves that John Kerry is the son of Man, returned to rid the world of evildoers and fools.
