Here it is, folks. The Ultimate Question. The question that has perplexed mankind for thousands of years. Is is REALLY illegal to tear tags off of mattresses? And, if so, what’s the penalty? Personally, I suspect the answer is that it’s illegal for the manufacturer or salesman to tear off the tag, but it has nothing to do with the person who buys the mattress.
Did you ever read all of the wording on the tag? For the last three decades, the tags say that it is illegal to remove the tag BEFORE it is sold. This is to protect the consumer, who should know what a mattress is made of.
