Maurice Gibb dead

OK, but Andy Gibb was born on March 5, Barry on September 1 and Maurice and Robin (twins) on December 22. Pretty cruel hoax?

That is really odd. I distinctly remember they said Andy Gibb of Beegee’s fame is XX years old today. Now I am confused. Maybe the recorded it years ago and just started playing kinda like the radio talk show host machine on the Simpson’s. “Can you believe those clowns in congress?” etc.

well, he MAY be xx years old today. his birthday may have just happened a few months ago…

What a shame.

I think the Bee Gees are among the best pop bands of all time. Right after the Beatles and the Beach Boys. I like just about everything they did. Early, Disco, post Disco. Plus all the stuff they wrote and produced for other artists.

Over here you stop having birthdays after you die. Is it any different where you live?

Thanks for the link, Everton.

I also thought the article linked from that page (The five ages of the Bee Gees) was a good tribute to 4 decades of songwriting.

I can also attest to the coolness of their “Odessa” album. Although, I’m going to guess it’s not for everyone, seeing as how it’s a semi-operatic/orchestral “concept” album. Very of its time (1969) though, if you like that sort of thing.

Andy Gibb was not one of the Bee Gees.

He was their brother but not a Bee Gee. Has it been resolved what Bee Gees stood for? I remember seeing something on TV where they distinctly said it did not stand for Brothers Gibb.

Thanks for that link, voguevixen. CNN showed a Larry King episode from Feb 02 where they were on. Very informative. Of course King was his lame self but the boys got past that. King quoted Bono as saying that the Bee Geees were right up there with the Beatles in terms of songwriting.
