Maven Networks / Ben Harper Channel

I just received a Ben Harper newsletter announcing unreleased music content available fromthis Maven Networks site which prompts me to install some sort of Maven client. The Maven Networks main site is here.

This offer has spyware/adware alarms going off in my head, however I cannot seem to find any further information about Maven Networks through Google. I assume that they must be new on the scene.

Have any of you heard of this company? I find the fact that they do not offer any privacy info on the main site to be a bit suspicious.

bump

Ok, one last try.

Surely someone here has knowlege of this company or its Maven client…

I don’t have any firsthand knowledge of this company, but why not just try installing it, then running Adaware and Spybot? If it comes up clean, you’re probably good to go. If not, let the program clean up the mess for you.

Good advice, considering that I have both of those apps installed. It’s just that I ALWAYS google for adware/spyware/scumware/malware references before installing any freeware and I have never come up empty handed. There are usually LOADS of references which detail the hidden cargo, give it a clean bill of health, or detail how to disable said hidden cargo while still using the app. It just seemed to me that since google came back nearly blank on this one, that the reference files for AdAware and SpyBot might be similarly lacking.

I guess I’ll give it a try and see if it does anything suspicious…
