Max Färberböck's Aimée and Jaguar

Re: the title of Max Färberböck’s Aimée and Jaguar, “Aimée” appears to be French feminine singular past participle for ‘to love’ but what does “Jaguar”, in this title, mean.

Did this fall off the page to quickly to get a reply? Or, does no one have a clue?

I assume you mean something other than big goddamned cat?

It’s based on this book. And while you may be correct about the word aimee, sometimes it is simply a woman’s name. Like Aimee Mann, for instance.

Aimee and Jaguar are the nicknames for the two main characters.

The story was written in German and the movie was made in German but the word Jaguar, before the car, appears to refer exclusively to a Western Hemisphere predator so I was curious if the word had some more nuanced meaning in German or French. Just curious as to what might have inspired this in the original titles. I guess I am stuck with it as just nothing more than a nickname.
