May 20, Jimmy Stewart and "The Spirit of St. Louis"

Well, I’m still amazed every year on May 20:

On May 20 - 21, 1927, Charles Lindbergh flew the Spirit of St. Louis solo from New York to Paris.

Jimmy Stewart was born on May 20.

He played Lindbergh in the move “The Spirit of St. Louis”.

And the movie was on TCM today.

Jimmy Stewart also went on to become an Air Force General.

And Edith Bunker was as old as Lindbergh’s airplane.

Lindbergh was 25 when he made the flight. Stewart was 47 when he made the film. Which has to be one of the biggest discrepancies in age between an actor and the film subject.
