May 7th xkcd

Yeah, I saw that one too. XKCD sometimes manages to show the comic after the next early if you’re checking shortly after midnight eastern (when new comics post). I don’t know what causes it, but I’ve seen it happen several times before.

I believe official Wikipedia policy has become “autolock every page XKCD mentions” just because his fans are so rabid over there.

Brilliant. Only now I’m stuck with that tune for the rest of the day. Pbbbbbbtht!

Wow. Thank you

In my dialect they are perfect rhymes.

You are missing the point. A Wiki article on “Physics Major,” if it existed, would be an article on physics education, specifically on an aspect of how the undergraduate-level education of physicists is organized in the United States, it would not be an article on physics (which would properly be titled just “Physics”). This has nothing to do with whether or not most physics majors end up as physicists or physics educators (or something else). When they are physics majors, they are in (not learning about, in) physics education.

“Physics major” is an educational concept, not a physics concept. It is entirely appropriate that “Physics major” should redirect to “Physics education”.

Did anyone else have to check the parens in the CS panel?

It’s missing two if I counted right.

I count 13 left “(” and 12 right “)”.

Excellent work, sir!

To be perfectly clear, that is not me in the video… I just happened to spot it first.

That scans worse than the original. “they” adds too many syllables.
(the 1s are on “Dub,” “ad,” “dis,” and “pat” in the verse.)
The next line also didn’t have any problems with meter.

What’s wrong with biology, that they’d rather eat a toad?

Hmm… it could be something like this:

XKCD server is set to automatically release a new comic from ‘the queue’ at midnight on his posting days.

Randall puts ‘Ten Thousand’ in the queue, and then works on ‘Every major’s terrible.’

At midnight, he either hasn’t finished ‘Every major’s terrible’ or put it behind ‘Ten Thousand’ in the queue, so Ten thousand is posted.

He then decides that he wants ‘Every major’s terrible’ to be posted instead - because he likes it so much, or because he wants to tweak the art for Ten Thousand - so he manually switches out the comics, replacing Ten Thousand (posted for Monday) with Every major’s terrible (still in the queue for Wednesday.)

Here’s one by someone that can actually sing.
