Playing devils advocate it has sometimes crossed my mind that the universe as a whole ,or even as a time constant need not necessarily be based on logic!but its then that I turn to drink …
I, personally, wouldn’t say the universe is based on logic. I’d only say that logic is the most useful language in which to discuss the universe. But it’s impotent when it comes to discussions of faith. And I often turn to drink myself. Cheers.
Debating the intangible has been the basis of our modern science. Socrates, Plato, Aristotle all debated the unseen and unknown and preactically founded out modern society. Im all for debating the existence of god through philosophy, i believe it can be done! Have a little faith!
Side not, i hate fundamentalists of all religions and believe religion itself to be a cancer on the human psyche. Im also an athiest, but im willing to be proven wrong.
I’ve no dog in this fight but why is his/her comment inappropriate? Seems like an answer to what we’ve been discussing; what’s the purpose of life/alternative to God, etc.
Aside from being a silly drive-by, (science says nothing about God, pro or con), the post in this thread was not wholly inappropriate. However, with four similar posts in as many threads, one of which was inappropriate, I was simply trying to catch his or her attention before s/he did something that would get his/her registration revoked on the first day.
In his rebuttal to the idea of design David Hume wrote that for all we know, this world was the work of an apprentice god who hadn’t quite learned how to do god things yet.
