Maybe not a "great debate".... (Jars v Bottles)

Yet another for this. To me, to be a bottle, the mouth has to be quite a bit smaller than the basic body of the container to the point where it would be an effort to remove solids or fully empty it without washing it out. Jars have a mouth of, or near to, the body diameter.

We call them cows in the States.

Yeah, me too - that’s not a bottle (to me).

But outside the US, milk really does come in bags

I like this… pouring out vs. dipping in

I also appreciate the participation here. No, this isn’t going to change the world. But it is a fun conversation.

By the way, if the OP wants to get this thread back to GD, try steering “bottle vs. jar” toward “fetus vs. baby.”

Well you can put a fetus in a jar, but I’m not sure you can put a baby in a bottle. OTOH, you can put a bottle in a baby and you can put baby oil in a bottle.

There’s got to be a controversy somewhere in here.

Gee, this is harder than I thought.

I wonder if the “glass of jelly” has to do with “jelly jar glasses” . Back in the 70s ( and probably before then) jelly was sold in jars that were used as glasses after they were empty. Welch’s in particular, would decorate the glasses/jars with cartoon characters.
