Maybee tonight, motherfucker!...

For the home, a shotgun, carbine or rifle is a good home defense choice.

A Security 7 Pump Action 12 gauge shotgun is grand, & readily available.

If you insist on a pistol. keep it under lock & key (there are kids in the house).
A .38 Police Special revolver, with a 9 inch barrel, is both accurate & hard-hitting.
Also common & easy to get.

A shotgun is best. You can select your load to limit penetration. A rifle or carbine is overkill, and potentially hazardous to bystanders, though I’ll note the many tactical divisions of police departments have switched away from 9mm submachine guns to Armalite-type .223 carbines because they don’t penetrate as much as a 9mm but have approximately the same lethality (as measured in terms of “one shot stops”).

I’m sure you mean a 4" (or perhaps a 6") barrel. While the magnum calibers do come in longer lengths, this is mostly for hunting or target shooting is are too unwieldy to be practical for defense, and certainly for concealed carry.

I think this is probably a topic for a new thread, but selection of a firearm for concealed carry is a vast and highly divisive issue for which you’ll get many contradictory answers. I’m not a fan of wheelguns, particularly, and I know what I would choose to carry based upon (some) experience and personal preference, but opinions will differ based upon situation and level of experience.

Be aware, though, that concealed carry is not something to be done lightly. If you anticipate that you may need to use a gun in public, you must get proper training, well beyond basic safety and handling. You also need to be aware of your environment–no walking into a bar with iron on your hip–and you need to guard against the temptation to display it when defense is not warranted, i.e. when some jerk tells you off and curses at your little girl, you can’t pull out your Glock and tell him to kiss the pavement. Based upon the statistics, most CC permit holders seem to understand this quite well, but it is something to bear in mind.

What…the…FUCK??? Why encourage stalking of nonviolent persons but prohibit the discussion of defense against evil criminals?

Dude…don’t.

Who’s “encouraging the stalking of nonviolent persons”?

I think it was a dig at Aldeberan’s IP saga.

No it wasn’t. Let’s just drop it.

I pray your daughter will always be safe against scum like that, bob. Good luck with everything.

Shit man, you sure you’re confident enough to risk shooting your daughter or the (boy)friend who’s sneaking in / out to see her…? Not sure how old your daughter is but I would have thought the possibility that it’s kids messing about is far greater than a malevolent psycho stalking the neighbourhood :frowning:

You know what they say… “If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will accidently shoot their kids”. Would hate that to be you, dude.

Glad it’s sorted though.

Somehow I doubt it was her or someone she knew… unless she’s a real good actress.

How old is the kid? How much strength would it take to damage the window or frame? Is the damage and evidence of applied force on the outside?
If it was the kid or her friends sneaking, why would they damage the window, when she could just let them in?
No, it’s not just “the kids being kids”.

As far as “only outlaws will accidently shoot their kids”. Come on. get real.

crosses her fingers, makes a wish, hugs bob_fortuna and his daughter and prays :frowning:

I believe he mentioned on Page One that she is 11 years old.

Scary, man. Good luck, and keep us posted.
