Presumably this is aimed at **quality **but why do you assume he/she is “an agri-business shill”? Maybe different in the the States/Canada but cold pressed virgin rapeseed oil is a high end specialist product around here, produced by single, family owned farmsand advocated by celebrity chefs.
Mixed with some Date oil and its great.
I agree with the OP. That stuff is nasty.
Royal Gala is a specific cultivar of apples among many, many others. “Canola” is not a kind of oil but a branding of rapeseed oil.

Never mind, that was a good one.
In related news, baby oil isn’t made from babies and Mars Bars are made right here on Earth.
Way to miss my point which was that the situation regarding Canola is not equivalent to considering Royal Gala a branding of Apples (which it isn’t, since apples aren’t just apples).
Bzzt, see my previous post. It comes from a cultivar. By your logic, all apples are one kind and naming different varieties is wrong.
If you were to eat original rapeseed oil, you would get very, very sick.
Ok. Ignorance fought. I must have missed your post about the canola cultivar. What about the rapeseed oil we get in Europe? No Canola here, just (what I thought was) plain ol rapeseed oil. Other, local cultivars, perhaps?
Like I said, the brand name Canola Oil appears to have no generic equivalent for low erucic acid rapeseed oil.
