McCain in Nov , what happens with his kids

I’ll leave the actual election victory to what ever candidate in November , however I am curious about his two sons.

One is still in the academy and the other is an enlisted marine. I would guess that the McCain family have talked about it , some of the repercussions of having to deal with having a secret service detail assigned to them.

Does an agent get inserted into a platoon with the one, or is he gonna be looking at something relatively safe like being a drill instructor at camp(s) legune(sp) or pendelton.

For the other , again is he going to be seeing sea duty with an agent doing fore and aft watches with him ? or shore duty.

According to Wikipedia, Secret Service protection for a president’s children continues until age 16. So I’d guess they don’t have to worry about that. Leaving them in the field might present other issues, but I’d think they’d be pretty anonymous in combat. For the one in the academy it should just be business as usual.

I’d suggest one has to look no further than Prince Harry. They will not be anonymous without the connivance of the press and I rather doubt they’ll get that.

Though that may be policy, I can’t imagine any current president not requesting protection for their children while in office – at least the younger ones. The same article states that protection has been in place for Obama since May 2007 thanks to a request from Harry Reid, so it seems that protection can be extended upon request.

Would McCain let his daughter Bridget really just borrow the car head out for a night on the town, without some kind of escort?

I know some people who were at Stanford the same time as Chelsea Clinton-- she had a ton of protection, and she was well over 16.

The article states that the children of former presidents receive protection until age 16. The children of a sitting president get protection for as long as the president is in office.

I’m surprised you guys are talking about this. McCain has already promised to replace the Secret Service.

Hmm replacing airforce one with an A-4 skyhawk , now thats got traction.
