McCain wins Democratic Primary

2. Oh, and try to be less coy about what you really mean in your OP. It’s not cute; it’s irritating.

Advice from experienced Dopers is always welcome.

It will get worse. They will both be on the ticket, causing mysogists, racists, Clinton haters and Visigoths to vote for McCain.

I’m voting the straight Visigoth ticket.

Schwartzenegger, however you spell his name, is not a “natural born citizen”.

>most people have shorter political memories than Dopers do

Damn straight. Look at the people who voted Bush back into office in 2004. They couldn’t remember back just, what, zero days?
So it’s impossible that Bush had not screwed up this much at that time, and that Kerry was a scintillating attraction for the swing voter?
I’m always surprised by the number of people on this board who thought there was no way the Democrats could lose in 2008. But there were definitely people who thought it could happen.
I’ve been saying all along the Democrats could lose.

But I totally disagree that it will be because of this campaign. A hard-fought nomination campaign is NOT a disadvantage. If Obama is the nominee, he will win, and win handily.

What would defeat the Democrats - actually, the reason I’ve maintained all along they could lose - is if they nominate Clinton, who would unquestionably lose. It doesn’t matter if she wins a hard-fought race or if she had been acclaimed; she would lose, and always would lose. Obama will win. Doesn’t matter how “divisive” the race seems; come November, if Obama is the nominee he’ll win, and if Clinton is the nominee she’ll lose.

Exactly. The DNC does not have the guts to push aside Clinton’s enormous ego and get a democrat in the WH. Just your typical banana republic situation.

How does it come to pass that?

Oh, and try not to call people irritating. It’s not cute, it’s irritating.
My wife and I do get confused with the Dems.

If they’d just nominated John Edwards, we would have voted with them. But no, they get all idealistic and nominate Clinton or Obama.
Ya know, I’ve been telling anyone that will listen (thats actually nobody. I’m an ass. Nobody talks to me.) that Edwards was the *only * electable Dem in the race from the start.

Hey! I’m all for McCain winning and making the Bush tax cuts permanent. They work for me!

Nah, Obama was electable(Hillary wasn’t) but it’s such an internal bloodbath now McCain is the exceeding favorite.

Heh, hardly even noticed the > prefixes, but then again, my emails still are all in this format, and I communicate via email a LOT more than I do on vBulletin.
