McDonald's Menu and nutrition deficiency.

If one only ate McDonald’s menu items what would be the first nutritional deficiency to make its appearance? Note deficiency, intaking huge amounts of calories isn’t a good thing but that’s not what I’m asking.

So, aside from the calories is a semi-healthy diet possible consisting solely of McDonald’s menu items?

Ever thought of checking out the McDonalds web site?

Well, here’s some anecdotal material from a fellow who documented the effects that a month of an all-McDonald’s diet had on his health.

Which is great and all but does not answer the question, even if I correlated between the RDA and all the items on the menu I wouldn’t have any clue what if any of the missing items are going to manifest first.

Doesn’t look applicable, sounds like he just had fun with the burgers, fries and shakes with no attempt at health, if he had stuck to salads, grilled chicken sandwiches and parfaits his results wouldn’t be nearly as impressive I’d guess.

Between the breakfast and lunch menus, and the salads that are available, you could get all your nutrition (This post of mine is borderline IMHO)

I’m having trouble think of a vitamin you can’t get.

Calcium is easy, as is protein, fat (duh) and complex carbs, as well as simple sugars. Vitamin C is a breeze…fiber would be ok with a daily salad.

You can get dairy/eggs…meats…veggies…fish…even A vitamins and the B’s. Other trace minerals will be available to, including niacin, zinc, etc.

I think the question is unanswerable as asked. Most typical American diets (even those that consist largely of fast food) have sufficient amounts of nutrition. Low nutrition levels is something that only applies to extreme poverty and old-time sea voyages. The real problem with fast food is excessive amounts of things like chloresterol and calories.
