McDonalds Philly Cheese Steak

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! Cheez-Whiz is not cheese! Cheez-Whiz can only be described as “cheese-like substance”.

at work we make them with leftover primerib, which makes for some amazing philly meat. unfortunatly we sell them with swiss :frowning: so when i make mine it’s with jack or cheddar, bot make for a tasty combo… and our pepers and onions are second to none. But then i don’t live anywhere near Philadelphia.

Daikona, when it comes to a cheesesteak, cheese whiz is cheese. Don’t knock it till …
The Cheesesteak beverage: Birch beer.

I gotta put a word in for White House Subs in Atlantic City. (Baltic and Va., IIRC) Best on the Jersey Shore, and IMHO, very much in a league with Pats and Geno’s.

And I’ll agree with Philster’s “after 10 pm” but I’ll see your street corner and raise you a bench on the Wildwood boardwalk outside of an arcade.

“Cause down the shore, everything’s alright.”

Bob, it’s on 216 Market Street

Daikona, very few cheese steaks I’ve eaten have brand name “Cheese Wiz”, which is somewhat thick. They tend to use a thinner version, which is sometimes referred to as cheese sauce. You’re right, though. It’s not cheese in the traditional sense, but it’s damn good and very popular.

Also, the best steaks use fresh sliced meat, about 3/16 inches thick. This holds the heat in better and keeps the cheese (especially wiz) liquid. The grease adds to the flavor too.

I gotta stop reading this thread, I’m making myself very hungry. :frowning: 3 days till Saturday…

Is McD’s trying out a keilbasa or bratwurst or some kind of sausage-in-a-bun that’s not a straight-up hot dog? A few days ago, I saw the same commercial twice in an hour, showing an undulating line of mustard going all the way along a sausage [sub]got your attention, didn’t I?[/sub], and then a shot of a happy smiling McD’s employee holding said sausage, while the voice over said, “Now at McDonald’s: New ???” I didn’t try to remember exactly what the product was, because I assumed I’d see the commercial again, but I haven’t. Didn’t think of it until I saw this thread. I’ve just been to their site, and they don’t mention any sausage-related new product, but I know I saw this. Anyone?

well on the bratwurst johnsonville tends to be the best commercial brauts ever made that I’ve tasted so maybe theres hope

But leave it to mcd’s to screw up perfection

just a comment someone made a remark about cheeze whiz not being food

well theres a quitea few people that dosent consider cheese steaks real food either so theyd say the 2 fit together:D

I tried the McD’s bratwurst a few years back and it was rather…interesting. Reminded me a bit of salty, wet sawdust packed into a tube. Not recommended.

I gotta say, my vote for best Philly Cheesteak goes to Lee’s Hoagie House in the Philadelphia area… they are really really good. Also, if you cant get to Philadelphia, try a steak from The Philly Connection, their an authentic philly cheesesteak place with locations in the south. Their steaks aren’t half bad!!!

The McDonald’s Bratwurst sandwich is actually a Johnsonville Bratwurst, and it’s pretty tasty. You have the option of getting sauerkraut and onions on it, although I don’t recommend it, it’s not very good sauerkraut. And the bun is just a cheap tasteless hot dog bun.

Ew.

nuf said.

Nope. The best Cheese Steaks come from the street vendor that sets up in front of Cooper Hospital in Camden.

I’ve disliked McD’s for some time now, but this is too damn much! I now offically loath them.

The McD’s in the food court at Media City Center has the bratwurst. I didn’t order it, though.

The bratwurst that I had at McDonalds was actually pretty good. It came on a yellow extra-length bun with a generous line of brown mustard. I wasn’t aware of any add-on options at the time or I might have tried them.

Odd. This was some time ago, so maybe they had a different supplier of bratwursts? I remember it as a distinctly unedifying experience.
