…Not that I was expecting much from McDonalds anyway, but yuck!
Not nearly enough steak, peppers, and onions…and absolutely swimming in mayo…
Don’t waste your money folks.

This post will ruin the sequence, but as I’m writing this, the next thread title is “Should We Sue?”
Seems reasonable to me.
My God, they put mayo on a cheese steak?
Plus, they have the nerve to call this a “Philly” cheese steak? The only acceptable toppings for a Phiadelphia cheese steak are peppers, onions, ketchup, or any combinaton thereof. The only acceptable cheeses are American, Cheese Wiz/sauce, or Provolone.
Please tell me they didn’t use Swiss…I had a “cheese steak” on an airplane once, it had Swiss and lettuce. I choked it down solely because I was starving.
ketchup? Cheese Wiz/sauce?
These are acceptable?
Philadelphia… native… feeling… woozy…
Esprix
The benchmark for Philly cheese steaks is Pat’s Steaks and Geno’s Steaks in South Philadelphia, at 9th and Passyunk. These establishments are the de facto standard. Patrons will notice ketchup pumps, but no mayo. Also, cheese wiz is a prominent menu choice, and is in fact the default for Geno’s, if you don’t specify a cheese type. Cheese wiz is especially good when it mixes with the grease. I sop up the drippings with the excess roll…
I see your point, though. Personally I don’t like ketchup on cheese steaks, but then again, I don’t like onions.
And finally:
Esprix, do you prefer Pat’s or Geno’s?
ishkabibbles!
I would NEVER have a Philly Cheese Steak from a fast food chain restaurant…sorry.
I can’t remember the name of the place but the best place in Denver to get a Philly Chese Steak is located off Evans and Colorado.
Any Denverites know that place? They serve other foods but their Philly Cheese Steak jams. I wish I could remember it as the next time I am up there I can snag one.
Krispy, when I saw the title of this thread(which I cannot type because my fingers would leave my hands and flush themselves down the toilet in suicidal madness), my first thought was that you were attempting to get yourself banned from the SDMB.
I then realized the truth-someone must have slipped some LSD into your morning eclair. The Krispy I know would never use such language in a public forum without the proper “WARNING:Extremely Offensive Language!” label in plain sight.
BLASPHEMY!
My friend and I made the mistake of trying this “thing” and we immediately christened it the “McMole” because of how awful the damn thing tasted. I don’t know what kind of drugs they must be doing in Ronald McDonald land, but they’re certainly strong than anything I’ve ever done!
Err, make that “stronger than anything I’ve ever done!”
Pat’s and Geno’s are good, but the best cheese steaks in the city are located within 3 blocks of each other in the Roxborough section. In descending order of artery-clogging goodness: D’Alessandro’s, Chubby’s, and Fiesta’s.
All of 'em on Henry Avenue. D’Alessandro’s sells beer if you still need a tie breaker. You can then walk off the calories back the Wissahickon Creek trails in Fairmount Park, which are closely situated–particularly awesome in the fall as the leaves are turning…
“I know those words, but that sign makes no sense.” – Lisa Simpson, in response to a “Yahoo Serious Festival” theatre poster.
Heretic! Everyone knows Geno’s can’t be topped.
Seriously, though, the best cheese steak I’ve found is Sonny’s, on Market Street. They were Best of Philly this year. I’ll have to try the places you mentioned.
I can see this turning into the 'Net’s first Philly cheese steak flame war. That’s a GD if I ever heard one…
M…m…ma…
Mayo… on a…
I suggest that the mayor of Philadelphia sue the bastards. Immediately.
Been there. Done that. (Never did get the T-shirt though…)
There are hundreds of great cheesteak places in Philly, and around Philly. Yes, people have their faves, which is nice, but any real Philadelphian knows that there are a variety of cheesteaks, each with their own magical powers.
For example, at Genos, you can’t eat one and feel full. You have to scarf down more than one at a Geno’s or Pat’s.
However, there are places that make a killer steak, albeit different than on nint street, but are good in their own way, and sometimes are just belly busters.
In DelCo, you can get a killer cheesteak at LaSpada’s…and in the neighborhoods throughout Philly, there are tons of great places to eat one.
The optimum time to eat one is after 10pm, on the corner, standing up…of course.
What block on Market?
If any of you guys ever get out to the suburbs, check out Conshohocken Pizza, on Butler Pike in Conshohocken. It’s my family’s place. They make a killer cheese steak. 12 inch roll and about 9-10 ounces of steak. Provolone is my cheese of choice, but I’ld rather have one with wiz after a good bender. Best drunk food ever.
