McRib

Seriously. One of the reasons I still go to Carl’s Jr. is their Western burgers. BBQ sauce and onion rings are fantastic on a burger. I can ask for BBQ sauce at Whataburger, but there’s a 1 in 3 chance the cashier will get confused and sometimes it’s just easier to get ketchup and mustard.

They still do. I had a couple of those the other day.

I wouldn’t eat a McRib very often, but they’re OK and I’ll probably grab one while it’s back.

It’s not at every BK anymore. I haven’t seen one around here (DC Metro area) for a good decade or so (though I don’t go to BK very often; like once a year maybe but they never have it). I suppose I could just ask them to make me one, if I really can have it my way.

My gramma LOVED them. Every time they came back, my brother would drive to McD’s to buy one for her. Fond memories.

Still wouldn’t eat one, myself.

I tried one for the first time yesterday. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. There’s a local BBQ place down the road from it that makes a real BBQ sandwich for about the same price, so I’ll keep going back there.

I’ve been eating at McDonald’s for decades, (but thankfully, not nearly as often in recent years), including a few summers actually working there in high school–and I’ve never had a McRib…until last week.

It was OK, I guess. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get another one.

I just had two and it was the first time I’ve had one. We had a buy one, get one free coupon.

Meh.

It’s just a barbecue sandwich thingy. I wouldn’t order one again, but I’m glad I could try it once.

McRib:McDonald’s::Sliders:White Castle, at least in the context of hype.

I had my first one the other day.

Pretty tasty, actually. After I ate it though, I was so stuffed I could barely move. It was almost as if it expanded after I ate it.

Yuck. Bad BBQ. Eat real BBQ, not that.

Think smaller, and more legs. Lots more legs.

It’s good, but it’s not that good.

I quite like it, but then I like canned chili and corned beef hash too.

I had one last week, and I always get it without pickles and onions. One of the things that makes it better than my former staple, the AM/PM BBQ sammich is that on the McRib, I can occasionally actually taste pork.

I love them. To bad I’m being all cautious of what I eat. Stupid weight loss plan.

For me the secret is in the bread. It’s not like the bread they use for their other sandwiches. Rather it’s a really chewy, hoagie style bun with a dusting of cornmeal. Just compliments the meat and sauce so well.
(Flings head back, mouth wide open, tongue hanging out and makes a Homer Simpson-style gurgling noise)

I too love real barbecue, but to me the McRib is really it’s own thing. I don’t see it as barbecue. I just see it as a fast food pork sandwich and judge it on its merits as that. Same thing with Taco Bell. I enjoy authentic Mexican, and would never confuse it with the stuff they serve at Taco Bell. But I enjoy Taco Bell for what it is, which is American fast food with a bit of spiciness and south-of-the-border flair.

Anyway, my dad, who is pretty health conscious and rarely eats fast food, loves McRibs also.

What kinds of animal was that I ate?

Wow, I didn’t realize this was a nationwide apparition. Mmm, gotta get me some McRib.

I like 'em. I got one today thanks to this thread for reminding me. I get it extra wet with fries and a large Dr Pepper. Dr Pepper is the only way to fly with that sandwich.

Had one for dinner tonight. Yummy. But hold the pickles, please.

Dammit. Now I have to go to McDonald’s tomorrow just to get it out of my head.

Think smaller. Think more legs.
