The point is somebody will make a thread about fast food or frozen food or pre-packaged food and someone else will say something completely unrelated.
“Do you know what’s in it? Do you know what it looks like before it’s cooked?”
“I don’t eat fast food sandwiches. I make my own at home.”
Guess what? If the thread title was “Dopers, what would you rather make at home than go to a store for?” it would be relevant. In this thread it ain’t. And it happens in nearly every thread of this sort. Who cares? Nobody asked you. It gets a little tiresome. That’s not what this thread is about.
Sorry for getting ranty. Go ahead and do what the hell you want.
If you’d quit frothing at the mouth for two seconds and actuslly read what he wrote, you’d find that he comes down squarely on your side of this issue. You sound ridiculous.
Last year I got ambitious and made my own McRib sandwich out of actual ground spare ribs and threw them on the smoker. I felt sinful for doing that to a perfectly good rack of ribs, but it was an experiment all in good fun.
As for the real McRibs, while I like McDonald’s and eat there fairly regularly (once every week or two–I’m hooked on the jalapeño doubles right now) I’ve given up on the McRib a few years ago. It just doesn’t do it for me. I think the sauce is too sweet for my tastes. I went through a period of about seven years where I fell for their artificial scarcity/limited time only technique only to realize each time that I still didn’t like it. So I’ve given it a fair shake–just not for me.
As a creature of habit I went through the drive thru and ordered BEFORE looking at the menu, I saw McRib and was thoroughly disappointed I didn’t see it beforehand.
I’ve cried myself to sleep for THREE nights now because of it
Not to change the subject, but my local Mcdonalds has started serving breakfast until 11:30 a.m. and no longer 10:30. Has this happened to anyone else? Was there announcement about extended breakfast menu hours at Mickey D’s?
BBQ country is a little north and east of you, in East Carolina. It has been thus ever since the Great Pork Shoulder/Beef Brisket schism. I’m surprised they let you get away with pulled pork in Texas.
I love ribs, and I love pulled pork BBQ. Same with my wife. We finally tried the McRib when MickeyD’s was selling it last winter. Neither of us could finish our sandwiches because they tasted so bad. We were both going, “people actually like this shit?”
And this isn’t an anti-McDonalds rant either - while we aren’t big fans of the chain, our kid loves it, so we wind up eating there fairly often, and we find most of their offerings somewhere between tolerable and decent. But the McRib was easily the worst thing either of us have eaten at a McDonalds. It was off-the-scale bad.
If no discussion about the product is “allowed,” then the thread should be in Marketplace and locked after the first post. Fifty-two “Yayyyyyy!” posts adds nothing.
Some McD’s food is tolerable. McRibs are a frankensteinian creation that would be despised by pretty much everyone except the Hot Pockets crowd if sold in the frozen food section.
Hot dogs and bologna are made from the meat/bone/knuckle/sphincter/lips/beaks paste that’s scraped off the slicers and grinders at the slaughterhouse.
McRibs are made from the stuff they comb out of the mops after cleaning up the bologna factory. Whipped into a cellular slurry, pressed into puppy chewtoy molds, and bombarded with Xrays to kill any baby parasites/worms/chuff that survives the gauntlet.
Slim Jims are made from the slurry foam that floats to the top during Mc Donald’s labs patented McRib “Durango” process. That’s for another thread though.
Maybe, if you didn’t want the opinion of others you ought to have composed an OP that reflected that. There was no question, or debate, just a flat out observation.
Sort of invites the observations of others, otherwise what’s the thread for?
And if you only wanted to hear from those who share your view, just say so, up front!
You acknowledge people have widely varied opinions on the topic, after all, right in the OP! Doesn’t exactly telegraph that you don’t want that opinion expressed.
I’m sincerely sorry if my opinion struck you as thread shitting, I thought you wanted discussion, not just confirmation of your view! My bad, I stand corrected, and I leave you to it!
