So strange. MDA has thrown Jerry aside, shortened the telethon to six hours and it’s not even on Labor Day.
Stars tonight 6pm-12pm
I got a bad feeling they’ll get half what was donated last year. That’s if they are lucky.
There’s was no reason to treat Jerry this way. Show some class and give the man recognition for all those years he raised money.
I know those kids need support from MDA. They provide a lot of great services. I don’t know what will happen if donations fall short this year.
My step-brother had MD and died from it. The MDA is great. Jerry Lewis is still an, asshole though.
No one else is watching the telethon?
It’s pretty good tonight.
I hope they get some good contributions. It’s all about the kids.
The crap between the MDA and Jerry doesn’t matter in the long run.
Well, they did say a few nice things about Jerry during tonights telethon. There are a lot of performers volunteering tonight. Just like always they are there trying to help the kids.
Co-host Nigel Lythgoe said during his opening comments on the telethon that he didn’t realize Lewis, 85, was thinking about retirement during the show last year, when the comedian offered Lythgoe his seat as Lewis took a break and Lythgoe was coming on the air.
“He made such a big point about it. `I’ve never done this before,’ he said,” said Lythgoe, the executive producer of “American Idol.” "I didn’t realize then that he was contemplating retiring.
“And Jerry, and I know you’re watching, when you gave me that chair I know it’s possible to sit on it, but it’s isn’t possible, Jerry, to replace you, sir,” he said. “What you have done for this organization and its families is something close to a miracle and I know that we all want to carry on your legacy.”

Who decided to make it ONLY SIX HOURS? The whole purpose is to make it a day long & nigh inescapable so if you’re flipping around the channels on Labor Day, you’re bound to catch it.
I hope they do well, but I doubt it. I sleep during the evening & by the time I got up & about it was already over. Hopefully, they’ll make it at least 12-18 hours next year.
I saw it for about five minutes and turned the channel in a conscious effort of boycott, because there was no Jerry.

$61.5 million!
$2.5 million more than last year & the best since 2008. Way to go!
Tho it still should be longer. What would you have gotten in 12-18 hours?
I haven’t watched it in years. When I was 14, which is over 40 years ago (sigh), I was on TV on the local Miami show. I was so stupidly proud.
I’m glad they paid tribute to Jerry. I think…
great news! That’s amazing considering the unemployment and bad economy right now.
I was worried because the local phones didn’t seem that busy during the cut aways. The local station was working pretty hard trying to get donations.
