I don’t remember any explanation in the story, but perhaps meatballs are the sort of thing commonly served in the cafeteria (and a place to use the “mystery meat”).

I was actually in Meatballs. I was a kid, going to Camp White Pine (where it was filmed). I got paid a shiny $1 bill to be an extra.
Sadly, while I met the stars acting in it, and I assume I appear in the background in a couple of scenes, I have absolutely no memories of it whatsoever.

Breaking Away is great! I just watched it about a month ago for the first time in many years. I highly reccomend it.
People remember it as being one of those Boobilicious empty sex comedies but it really is pretty tame, considering. Also, like other movies from that era the pacing also seems pretty glacial compared to today but it does hold up.
Yes, you should see it. It’s great. Also, My Bodyguard, which stars Chris Makepeace (Rudy in Meatballs).
I remember Meatballs was on the Friday late-night movies a lot, usually double-billed with Little Darlings, which was the girl equivalent coming-of-age-at-summer-camp movie. I remember liking Little Darlings a lot, but wonder if that one holds up at all.
I remember the movie and the CIT song very well. Except I always thought they were saying *noogie *bound :smack:
And was the film debut of a young Adam Baldwin (as the bodyguard).
Matt Dillon is an excellent twerp/bully in that too.
My sister and I looooved Little Darlings. I own it on VHS but didn’t acquire it until after I no longer had a VHS player. I keep waiting for it to be available on DVD. I’ll buy it if it ever becomes available, but I suspect it won’t hold up. We last saw it probably 20 years ago.

FWIW, I did check Pornhub (took one for the team, but I’m not a hypocrite, it was not a chore 
) and the beginning of the copy they have declares that the original release was indeed made with a few scenes missing. The movie was then recreated with those scenes, but there are a few scenes that while the actress is the same, the scene does not quite match the action (like the pants of the mad hatter disappearing in the closeups).
So, more research 
is needed to clarify if indeed the makers of the movie did make more racy scenes for the movie or if they made new ones later for other markets.
Continuity errors in porn? I’m shocked. Shocked I say.
