When a power plant bleeds off a little power to drive its own pumps, etc… isn’t this a term for this? The term “bleed steam” keeps coming to mind. Any other term(s) for this? - Jinx
“Extraction steam” is what I typically use.
On second thought, to split hairs from a power plant standpoint, while any purposeful steam extraction can be called “extraction steam”, typically we use that term in practice to refer to steam sesnt to the feedwater heaters and deaerators. I guess if it’s intended to drive equipment, it would typically be called “auxiliary steam” instead. “Process steam” is sometimes used, but typically that refers to steam that leaves the turbine cycle envelope to be used for work or energy elsewhere - often outside of the plant entirely.
