Mechanical Question about an Italian Scooter

Hey Dopers

I have a 2004 APRILIA SCARABEO 150 and I am not getting power to the ignition coil. We don’t have a wiring diagram so it is a bit of a hunt and peck thing. Do any of you dopers know is this thing has a module (before the coil) that could go bad? Do you know where the power comes from to the coil? It has a kill switch and we are about to check to see if it is bad. The thing only has 3000 miles on it and I feel that it is something simple. I am not much help at troubleshooting this beast.
Thanks!

Hey, cool. I have a not-so-distant cousin to the Scarabeo 150, a Vespa GT200.

I suggest you hit the Modern Vespa board for advice – a lot of knowledgable scooterists there, including shop people and dealers. Despite its name there are a lot of non-Vespa threads going on, though overall oriented towards “modern” twist-and-go CVT/four stroke rides rather than the “classic” two-stroke manual transmission scoots.
