I’ve been having low sodium recently and wonder whether my doctor is overreacting. My sodium did get quite low (mid 120s) for a short while but I have never had any particular symptoms. I seem to be able to keep my level in the low 130’s now with no symptoms. My doctor is getting me to quit medications that work because the drugs sometimes are associated with hyponatremia. One drug which has no good replacement I would like to keep taking especially since I not convinced that it has anything to do with my low sodium.
As long as my sodium levels don’t go below 130 and there are no symptoms, what, if anything, is the harm with a level in this range?. I found an old lab report when I was with another doctor and my sodium was 131 and in the notes he put "Electrolytes: Good - no changes needed.)
