MedDopers: Weird ear pressure

I went to the doctor about two weeks ago for this chronic runny nose thing i’ve had for a while. I also have a bit of ear pressure in my right ear, which he assured me would go away because it was caused by the inflamed mucous membranes.

He gave me the nasal spray and my runny nose is clearing up fine but the pressure is still there-it is completely unchanged.

The pressure doesn’t hurt, it’s not infected and I have no trouble hearing. What could be another cause of this pressure? It’s extremely annoying.

Well-intended suggestions from a Message Board is not a replacement for conversation with a doctor.

Call a different doctor to get a second opinion, like a specialist in nose-ear stuff.

Ask the doctor who saw & treated you about your persistant symptoms first. I wouldn’t advise going second-opinion hunting unless you are unsatisfied by your doc’s answers and/or the persistant symptoms.
